Wasn't there something about Gypsies in Borat?

Did they scare you while you were driving your car?

From where?

This might not be what you are after?: "In 1932, in a small mountain town in Eastern Tennesse named MARYVILLE, several adventourous souls were beginning to venture out on public roads on their two wheeled machines. One of these brave souls was a young man named LEE SIMERLY- Papa Jack's Dad. Lee would get several of his friends ans aquaintances together and do some serious riding through the mountains and towns of Tennessee. As this group of daring men grew they took on the name of the Gypsies and formed a club, with Lee Simerly being the first President, Thus, the Gypsy Motorcycle Club was born.
Gypsy MC International is the oldest motorcycle club still in existence and proudly sponsors 63 chapters in Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Germany and Mexico. The trademarked insignia of the club is a pickle riding a motorcycle due to the members being labeled as "the sour pickles of society" back in the 1930's. "

The Poker Run sounds like fun.

All bikes welcome too ..... Yeah Right!

Horsley Park Tavern is a pretty dodgy pub.... or at least it was in the late 90's when I was last there.

Guess nothings changed if the Gypsy Jokers hang there.

hi all, thanks for your replies.

i'm talking about the MC active from the 60's(i think) to the 80's(possibly earlier) from south auckland(papakura.)

the patch was an upside down cross with a serpent around it, the words gypsy rogues and s.a. papakura.

Sorry Nashi,

replied to your first question with our reading second page.

The 'Rogues' were based in Papakura late seventies, not sure about the patch as was not a 'Patched' member but knew a few of the guys. They disappeared almost as quickly as they formed. Most would be late 40's early 50's by now I would think.

Nothing about a motorcycle club in the heading or the initial post. My opinion is that to change the thread now to a motorcycle club is off topic.

Started in South Auckland in the very early 70's main members then were, Stephen Grant, Denis Burgess, Ivan Curry, Paul Larry, Shorty, and others... in 73 Robert MacGregor, They were friendly at the time with Hells Angells Auckland , Hook ( Chester ), Spade, cant realy remember many more. They disbanded around the early 1980s . Some guys still around, a fair few have passed away with time.. Hope this helps even though its 3 years late ;-)

On behalf of the OP thanks! Inbetween all the crap, this is what I do enjoy here on KB; that you can actually get an answer to your question from someone who you would never otherwise meet.
(Even if you might have to wait for 3 years...)

We don't call them Gypsies in this PC world.
They are now known as Caravan Utilising Nomadic Travelers...
