Gidday, about an hour ago I thought "I wonder if there are any NZ motorbike forums" - and now I am here.
I've been riding my '93 Across for about 7-8 months now. That's about it.
I've crashed once, while making a short film thing. It was caught on camera. Actually, I crashed into the camera, breaking my right arm but thankfully not the $40,000 camera.
I came looking because it was such a beautiful day today that I thought "I wish I had friends with motorbikes to ride somewhere with".
Anyway, here is my accident, in slow motion, as a means of introduction:

Welcome to the club Sycophant. I would guess that it wasn't your intention to crash into the camera. Perhaps a tad too much throttle?
And what a relief it was only your arm. Years ago I had an accident, crashed into the steel bumper of a car that pulled out in front of me, broke my leg, took a year to heal, but phew, that's ok, least the bike was alright.

Well, I am glad I stumbled into the right place...
As for the incident in question - yeah, there was a little too much throttle, a little water, and some grit all of which conspired to lock up my front wheel and send me into the camera.
Of course, this was the first shot in a '48 hour film' I then proceeded to continue shooting for the rest of the (15 hour) day before going to A&E. After a few hours sleep I was back to edit with my broken arm. It was a hell of an ordeal - the finished product is online at fit.wibble.net (http://fit.wibble.net/)
The intention, for the record, was to pull up and stop short - then we would cut to a different angle to reveal the actor taking off the helmet, as if he was the rider all along. We did pretty much that, with possibly better results, but damn it hurt.
And MrMelon - hell, I have no idea where you may have seen me before. I've been using this nickname online for a good five years now so it could have been one of many places :)

Hey Ant's when are you going to sort out a ride up north for us ?
I don't like northland, but would come up if you organise something, save you having to come down here:D

I saw the movie Sycophant. Unfortunately, for some reason I couldn't get the sound, but I thought the camerawork was good.
Cheers.

Anyone know if the movie can be converted to windows media player as qtime interferes with some other programs on my computer?

That DivX is the whole movie, it's around 30MB, but features, the crash as integated into the finished product, plus the slow-mo after the end credits, and as a major bonus - My XRays!
