Ok, I was with SpikedPunch looking at Mountain bikes in the weekend a got distracted by some sweet BMX's instead :P

Damn, memories came flooding back from my youth. Might get one for summer, go the single speed. Hehe.

Anyone here ride? I'm not fussed on tricks etc, just riding would be fun. Shame they are so small though! I'm 6'2 and look kinda ridiculous, even on the XL frame :baby:

I have a BMX, not a particularly good rider but it's fun to have a play around a skate park while the bf is doing his stuff

Got some hassles by some groms - embarrassing being that I am in my 30s

Some cunt theifed my mates BMX from his house last night... even had a flat tyre and they still took it. He lives down the end of a quiet caldesac and it was out of sight from the road.

He's even more pissed off because his brother broke so many pairs of prescription glasses growing up the that excess on the house and contents insurance is more than his bike is/was worth!

Sweet! Mint bike, how much that send you back?

I'm thinking more recreation and fitness rather than anything else.

Haha, yup we went to look for a bmx or mountain bike for me and Krad decided he wanted a toy too, typical! ;) I would probably prefer a MB but I did spot a cool looking hybrid. Got a girly friend who does bmx, she wants to get me out on a bike, I'd like to get her out on a dirtbike.
Too many two wheeled things, not enough time!

So what would you BMXers recommend as far as fair priced introductory bikes go? Those club vids look like awesome fun!

Well look at all the BMXers come out of the wood work. Looks like pretty good fun.

I think I'm after one with a 21" toptube from the sounds of things. The search begins... Cheers for the links guys and girls.

avanti cycles do a ABD range which is probably the best intro $$$ wise,or redline flight series or just anything with 3 piece cranks and good bars on!
it can get really expesive if you want but its just to have fun, you might even like the 24inch criuser, the cromoly frames are cheaper but the alloy is where its at!

Used to race as a kid. 2 years ago walked past a bike shop and saw some cool looking bmx's and ended up buying one, wasnt cheap but think its worth paying more for better quality. Was fun for awhile but just sold it as it was gathering cob webs. Thinking of getting back in to skating now.

I used to ride at National level, however after a while you realise that a motor is a smarter way of getting around!
Just rock into a bike shop and tell them what you are planning on using it for and they will give you good advice......it is fun......but 2t is better:clap:

I feel old - Sarah Walker was only a little girl when I was riding!

I also did a bit of riding a few years back, raced mountainbikes for a while and then mucked round with a bit of street riding.

After a couple years without touching a bike I thought I'd join some mates at the park recently while I was waiting on rebuild parts for my bike. Talk about getting hooked again! $100 later I'd scrounged up a bunch of old crap parts and built a mutant, old and horrid but it does the job. Amazing how quickly the old tricks come back, took 2 rides to relearn 360's, grinds, disasters etc and oh the fun that was had! Waiting for dry weather to return so can get back to playing on it :headbang:

Agreed random rider, 2t still takes the cake!

I've got back into BMX after 25 years, but in a different way. I'm restoring old-school BMX bikes from the 80's. This might bring back memories for some you guys that rode BMX back in the day. This is a 1982 redline, fully restored back to how it came out in the shops. I've also got an HMX 500 that is going to be my next restore.

Ok, this is a pretty amazing vid. Its not strictly BMX, more like urban mountain bike/bmx hybrid.

MacAskill is amazing. I have 5 BMX bikes in the house at the moment, picked up an as-new Haro cruiser just before nationals for $450, and have now built up an Intense Podium cruiser for my son (probably cost about $1500 to build), however he bailed just before the worlds and snapped his collar bone, so it's sittingn unridden in the garage. Got another couple of Haro 20" bikes and frames, but his old Haro Cruiser that he rode at Nats has a cracked frame (only found it on pulling it apart for bits on the Intense.....

I've been tossing up getting back into it - was NZ2 for a couple of years, but I'm not yet convinced I could put 100% into it.
