RIght i've been thinking about this for while

I've noticed alot of members on here bag cages and thoses who own cagers

I'm guessing that there would be a high number of members on this site that own cars Poll to follow

If you own cars why bag thoses that own cars too

Now i know there will be a few members on the site that wont be able to resist having a go at me for not even owning nor ever owned a bike ( you know who you are) I have my reasons for not owning a bike

Why is it if you just the very word Car on this site ppl get up and arms and think "oh no a cager" like owning a car is a illness. Yes i know its a bike site i understand that

Your thoughts would be great to hear

Why have you never owned a bike?

Bikes are just better than cars because anyone has a car. Owning a bike and being into bikes makes you different from others.

Also the amount of money you spend and the amount of bike you get is better than a car. You can buy a super bike for around 30,000. for a super car you need 100,000 plus. How can you justify the cost

I lubs my car and my bike equally.
I have fond memories in the bike carving up corners and fond memories in the car with a carful of people and drive thru's. ;)

Also, anyone who calls them a cage is incredibly lame.

Yep. +1. I think I pretty much always write "car" not "cage".

Geez. When I drive my Wife and two kids somewhere, plus luggage, it's just not gonna go on the bike.

I'm not gonna get a 10kg sack of potatoes, a big bag of rice, 5 million $ worth of meat and a dozen beers on the pack-rack, either.

Different vehicles for different things. Car for chores. Bike for fun, life, whatever.

(I don't even commute on the bike, either, as my Wife and her sister and I all go in the car...)

Until Friday last week we owned a 2 wheeled Honda and a 4 wheeled Honda, now we just have the 4 wheeled one.

With 3 Teenaged kids we have needed multiple vehicles for quite some time, having said that I only get to drive the cars when the fuel warning light is on.

Haven't taken a car to work since buying a bike, Commuting on the bike is the highlight of my working day.

The difference is the car is practical - the bikes are fun.

I sold my ute two years ago, wasn't using it, the bikes more fun.

The wifes got the family car for carting the family around, and i've got the bike.

It does make things interesting only have the one car at weekends when
the daughters got netball and the boys got soccer..

Currently got the bikes rims off for painting and new tyres.took the car to work last night for the first time in two years..I miss my bike.
will try not to let that happen again.

I have two cars, a minivan for my five kids, a four wheel drive for fun, and work ( but more fun). Very hard to carry all my work tools on my bike, and a boat. Had a holden recently too, but thought it was time to go as the toys were mounting up. I love my riding but it's just not practical to ride my toys to work!!! I do find that being a rider and a driver I'm more aware of bikes whilst I'm driving!!!! Can't figure out why you'd be on a bike site if you've never owned a bike, whats up with that????:doctor:

Narrow minded bigotry and a want to create an "us" vs "them" mentality when perhaps we should all consider that we're all road users, motorsport enthusiasts, speed junkies, or off roaders.

A desire to live life dangerously? Vicariously.
Serious answer tho... There is a big difference in being a car owner/driver and being a cager. The term 'cager' denotes a mindset, not a transport preference.

dunno what it is, but i LOVE that comment about the hands. it makes sense in a funny sort of a way.

for me... ive never driven or owned a car and never will. ive had several exes try and talk me into learning, but it doesnt interest me. strangely enough, i feel safer on the bike. when i go anywhere with the olds, its of course in a car, and i spend most of the trip white knuckled [specially if dads driving. worst driver ever.] im also a lot jumpier at intersections and find myself stomping on the non existant foot brake as a reflex.
thats one reason i left susan... she was such a bad driver. going to wellington was a nightmare as she would drift in and out on lanes at roundabouts, she wouldnt look before entering roundabouts and nearly got us involved in more t-bones than i can count. im talking cars that i saw from half a block away, she wouldnt see until i was yelling at her to fucking stop.

I'm not having a go at any biker i have respect for them for being able to live the dream and ride in freedom if you ask the bikers who travel between waterview and the airport between the hours of 8-9am and return 5-6pm if i see a biker in my rear view mirror i pull over far left or right depending on which side the biker is lane splitting 9 times out of 10 i get a friendly wave saying thanks

I'm very sorry if i've offended anyone

I ride a motard and I enjoy the occassional slidy-action on the gravel... but fuck going skiing on a bike. And that's just one example - grocery shopping in the rain isn't a lot of fun either. Hauling the old folks - or other guests - around the country when visiting is yet another.

That's bloody hilarious - I do really hope you are taking the piss though.

Oh brilliant, so motorcycles are only for the poor people in the slums who can't afford better...?

The term 'cager' denotes a mindset, not a transport preference.

Which mindset - the kind of mindset that would never consider owning or riding a bike because it's either too silly or too dangerous - or only for criminals.

Not too different from dissing cars while riding a motorcycle is it?
