So last week some lady, here in Christchurch, decided to park her car in the Avon (http://www.stuff.co.nz/the-press/news/christchurch/2590345/Ice-blamed-as-skid-turns-into-a-dip) - allegedly helped along by black ice. She told the newspaper something along the lines of "luckily I'm a good driver, so I didn't do anything"... I'm still trying to figure that one out.

Then today we have this (http://www.stuff.co.nz/national/2610812/Pedal-push-sends-car-over-the-edge/).

Is there a pattern developing? And is there a correlation with the increase in prices on lamb?

Just be happy your bike wasn't parked under the second car

LMAO: "I knew what happened immediately. Thank goodness I am a pretty good driver, and I just followed the skid and didn't brake or fight it,"

-That obviously helped out a lot! Without her good driving skills she might have spun around a few times, or skidded some more. But thanks to realizing the problem and doing nothing she has safely slid into a river:rolleyes:

I've said it before, and I'll say it again.

I'm sorry, but the most recent one isn't even news worthy.

She had to escape through the boot, AIDED BY OTHER PEOPLE. Godforfuckingbid she ever pushed that door lock in the bathroom, she's starve to death if noone found her! CLIMB THROUGH THE WINDOW OR OUT THE (Probably blocked) DOOR.

"MONDAY-ITIS: The aftermath of the accident at a carpark off Portland Cres."
Excuse me, aftermath? Aftermath is the trip to the toilet you take 6 hours after eating curry, or a godawful C4 cluster destroying a couple of buildings.

Ah, I love a good bowl of rage in the morning.

Unfortunately most kiwi drivers actually think that they are a "good driver".

There are a couple of dumb arses that should have taken the day off sick and stayed in bed, can we blame it on the swine flu? But in saying that, out of all the hours that each of you have been in control of a vehicle, have you never done something even slightly dumb?

That's sexist, I resent that remark!

Although it seems it's not just the driving - parking is an issue too.

Yeah i noticed that as well - what the fuck? you cant take credit when you slide in a straight-line....into a river.
Mind due it is a BMW - so perhaps she is the worlds best driver - with an insurance premium the size of africa

Actually she said

"I knew what happened immediately. Thank goodness I am a pretty good driver, and I just followed the skid and didn't brake or fight it,"

And by that right she followed what advanced training teaches.....

Yes, thank goodness. Otherwise she might have ended up in the river and totaled her car.... Wait, shit.

It's just funny that she's skidded into a river and still talking about what a good driver she is.

Actually she said...

And that boils down to exactly what I quoted...

And no, not doing anything when your car is headed for the river isn't being "a good driver".

And what is the correct option she should have taken in this situation ???

The parked car, the lamp post, the child walking down the road, or should she have stepped on the brakes ??? come on what should she have done ????

Well, obviously the child. It works for bus drivers, it must work for BMW drivers.....

Actually, come to think of it, probably hitting the parked car would have been preferable to dunking a car in the drink......

The old little lady - with diabetes 1 - pushing the pram with her granddaughters baby along the Avon... of course.

And today - world first drive-through video store (http://www.stuff.co.nz/national/2671383/Woman-attempts-to-park-crashes-through-window) in Hamilton...

Something nefarious is taking place, I wonder if the government is involved.

I came across a guy in the Kawarau gorge in a ute with a tandem trailer on.
He'd hit black ice, spun around 180 and ended up with both the ute and the trailer in the water table upside down and facing the way that he'd come.

He told be that as soon as he hit the ice he took his hands off the wheel and turned off the ignition.

Is this right course of action?
Is this from extra-super-mega-awsome advanced driver training?

In that respect they're no different than NZ motorcyclists

Either that or he should have concentrated on driving rather than fricking around with the mat in the car while doing the bays - which are notorius for windy, narrow roads above water!
