4.30 this arvo had some dunb broad do a u turn infront of me resulting in me t boneing her car. Bent forks and a few other bent bits, worse still was the car had no plates no wof or rego and the bumb broad was / had been drinking (an open RTD and bottle of JD's in her lap.

If the cops can't find her as she did a walk before the cops arrived I will have to pay for all repairs :angry2: :angry2: :angry2: dumb dumb insurance company :angry2: :angry2:

Have to work tonight, a wee bit sore.
May be I can get some twin disk front end off an XJ or something similar. Where were the air horns..... wouldn't have helped though in this situation.

Better stop starting to ramble now
Be careful out there guys :Punk:

Fark mate thats not good at all. You aint too badly hurt are you?

Hope it aint gonna cost you to much to fix up your bike.

I suppose you will find her down at the local drinking hole - supping her ale.

Ya have to wonder how the cops aint stopped her before, what with NO Rego plates, NO WOF and NO rego.

Why won't your insurance company pay out.. it wasnt your fault.

I would have pulled her out of the car and HELD her there until the cops came.
Surely you would be within your rights to do that? I mean you had no way of contacting her, so what else could you do? She left the scene of an accident she caused

Argument to suggest you were following too close if you t-boned her.....either that or you weren't paying attention.

Why do we always post 'it had to happen' and then whinge about it happening when we supposedly knew it was going to happen at some stage so could have psyched ourselves up so when it did happen we were prepared once what happened happened?

Needless to say - it still sucks

he has put across one view that could lead to crazy insurance companies not paying. Giving us their side of the coin.

But the fact of the matter is she was drunk in a death trap and probally wildly turned in front of him leaving him no time to react.

And the police have to believe his story as they dont have the other side of it

last one did a uturn on me did not get to walk away
she had the best part of an H1D go through her door
(she had 18 stiches in her plus a fractured skull)
F**ked the bike though, but i saw what was going and did a super
man job over the top
(went between two on coming cars,
had to clean the leathers after that one)
Funny though i only had some damage on my knees
where i hit the top the car, sort of going through!
(always rember she was looking straight at me when she turned)
bad luck man

Thanx guys for the support the encouragement has been great.
Not hurt much just a bit of a sore shoulder and one knee I think work has been good of it, keeping me moving. Worst thing is that the bike is bent and that was my transport to work. My boy was concerned that it wouldn't be fixed in time for the Cold Kiwi - I assured him it would.

Update:
The cops found our driver who did the runner, being done for drunk driving. Apparently the car was legit even though it had no plates or stickers. Would be interesting to see what other charges will be brought against her.

Yes sAsLEX she had pulled over to the left and appeared to have stopped then did the u turn right in front of me as I was nearly to pass her, I didn't even have time to apply the brakes, lucky I was in a 50kph area. There were a couple of witnesses who saw it happen and a guy who had just come home got out his camera. Now I have her name and contact details the insurance will pay out and i will not have to pay any excess. Will have to wait for the assessor to have a look at the bike.

I think she may have been injured as she was limping as she exited from the scene, could have been a lot worse for all parties.

Yep Zed its been 5 years since my last bin and that one was on some diesel spilt on a tight corner in the Rotoma's, the rear end came round to meet the front and I hit the road breaking off the righthand handle bar. Brought the cruiser cause its a lot slower than the sports bikes and has been more forgiving. May be a chance to upgrade, hopefully, if I can show the Mrs the advantages. Looking forward to getting back on the bike again.
Work mates said so you won't be riding then but I said "if you had a prang in your car you still would drive wouldn't you, whats the difference".
Once again thanks for all the encouragement

Argument to suggest you were following too close if you t-boned her.....either that or you weren't paying attention.

Not always, we had a case last year outside uni on the busy main road (4 lanes, 2,2). Car on the side of the road. Bike with pillion passenger coming down the road. Car suddenly did a u-turn in front of the bike. Not a chance...

Later, the driver said he/she never saw the bike. Either one or both on bike dead. Don't know all the details, but thats the basics, and no fault from the rider.

Glad you're OK (relatively)

Ouch...

Thats a real bastard mate... You really can't believe that people can still be so frigging dumb as to drive a car with no plates / stickers etc and have booze open in the car, regardless of their actual state. I mean what are the chances of being stopped right? It must go up 1 billion per cent... I mean, what goes on inside their heads?? (no cancel that - I don't want to know)

Taking that into account, I guess it could have been a LOT worse, a second later and she would have T boned you...

Any way, my guess is you are dealing with the shallow end of the gene pool here at low tide and after a long drought so this might take a while to sort out. Good luck.

Glad to hear you're ok and they've now located the braud. What could have turned very messy should at least be more tollerable now with the insurance paying out, short of it having not happend at all.

Out of interest, do you ride with the headlight(s) on?

Gutted to hear of your bike, glad you're not too injured and glad the cops got the drunken bitch, hope she loses her car and her licence. Good to hear the Insurance co will pay out now and it won't cost you an excess.

I'd've made sure she was incapable of walking away - after having some JAFA U-turn in front of me, flee the scene and get away with it (because the MOT (yep, back in those days) didn't take kindly to some scummy, second-rate-citizen bikie interrupting their important game of darts and whinging about an accident) I feel rather inclined towards ensuring the bastard is incapable of escaping afterwards.

Take care HR. All the best getting your wheels sorted, hope you're not too sore.

Second time a drunk has taken my bike out, and around here there are always police checks and plain clothes patroling, would have been nice if they had stopped her rather than me though.

Yup, those U turns can be a hazard... I was lucky enough to go around the car doing one (i.e. they turned earlier or slower than the one that hit you)...

... it was a fresh pair of daks for me when I got home though I'll tell ya... not pleasant at all.

Good luck with the insurance! I'm still interested to hear who the insuring company is though, and what grounds they were contesting payment on. From what I can understand it should be a simple case of paying out (unless you only have 3rd party?)

I'm with State...
Their standard excess is quite high and the damage is around what the excess is. If no driver I'll would have had to pay out for the excess and loose my no claims bonus of 43%.

Had a look over the bike in the daylight and it is not as bad as I first thought. Basically the forks and mud guard are history and may be the front wheel, a small chip out of the rear indicator, and extra rips on the seat. Headlight bracket is bent. Bike starts OK.

After two lots of night shift I am noticing a few more places that are tender. The Mrs has calmed down even brought me a prezzie, talked about upgrading but that I think was pushing it a bit.

The driver has been charged She was from Opotiki, just got the incident report. Will be interesting to read the court news and see what she eventually will be convicted on. The last guy who hit my bike when drunk at 7:30am (20 yrs ago) only got a dangerous driving and a small fine. Though he did cough up and pay for the repairs.

Seems odd you should lose your no-claims bonus in a situation as you described but then I know some insurance companies (reportedly) will do ANYTHING to get out of paying or saving money.

Who would have guessed it?

As I said, good luck with the bike HR, look after your good self and your wife. I expect she got a fright too... and "No" to getting an upgrade is probably going to be out of concern for you

they should ban here from drinking or buying alcohol from anywhere locally.
and take her license off her for life.
and take all vehicles and all drugs/alcohol off her immeadiately.
On top of that all unemployment benefits will be put on hold untill she starts and ALAC course on how to become a good citizen.
Then we call it justice.

hope you and the eX get fixed up soon buddy, press charges against her too - as most cops wont tell you, you can do this (they didnt tell me) - that way you get a little out of the situation.
