That's what happens when Corporate America lays people off. Over weight executives stop buying HD's.

It does... There will also be a huge surplus of chaps & tassles, they will be encouraging sport riders to take up the slack... New products will emerge such as tassled sliders & Chaps with tassled sliders.

Keep an eye on Chapsandtassles.com for some great deals!

Maybe we need a 'HD' race class to get more people out on them....

Obviously the Harley factories are just far to efficient.

Though it is a worldwide trend, The japs would be lowering production by thousands of units.

http://www.jama.org/statistics/motorcycle/production/mc_prod_year.htm

The 2009 figures would be interesting.

Meanwhile in China, factory workers at the Suzuki plant are being executed as worldwide demand weakens. Reports are coming in that GSX-R vending machines the world over are now running low on stock with some even running out of change.

So buy some tractors and whatnot now while it's cheap, then sell it in a couple months when the demand is up enough just before HD start making more?

The bubble had to burst sometime and since they caused it to blow it's only right Corporate America should suffer with the rest of the world.

HD has been know for a 'keep them lean and keep them keen' production policy - the last decade has just been a high with huge demand. Instead of running out excess models like Suzuki does through NZ etc (back-off I ride a Honda run-out model) HD will slash production. They have been looking at combining factories for a while I understand.

Interesting it's the Sportster and V-Rod they hit the hardest.

I'll be interested to see what happens with MV - bet there are not many of them being sold of late.

They could race with the Motards, maybe lump pre 82's Senior and Junior in there as well. May as well add Clubmans as well I suppose, then we can have 10 lap races! :yeah:

MV have got to be coming out with a new bike soon. The existing model has been there for, what, ten years? And they've fiddled with it and upped it to, what, 1152 now or something weird. Competition's much hotter too: the 1098, the new Aprilia V4, the bizarre KTM thing.

Hmmmm

News Flash

Psychologists worry as affluent men have to make new adjustments in the way they grow up and make up for a lack of control of there lives. Thousands of overpaid insecure overweight men in there late 50's and early 60's have been told they can no longer able to have there midlife crisis as the pivotal symptom and product-the harley davidson motorcycle, is being put out of production for week, sparking panic amongst dentists and accountants world wide.

On the street you can spot distraught older men crying quietly in there audis and oversized immaculate 4wd's. Between sobs we were able to interview a few of them.

"What am I going to do now? I have 7 chins and am on my 4th set of hairplugs, my kids hate me and I cant get it up anymore. I already have a 4wd and boat, And another bike will be to fast and make me look fatter, I had to have this....why have they taken them away???"

"This is terrible, I got the harley coffee mug, harley tie, harley tie clip, harley stapler, harley executive shirt, harley hush puppy loafers, harley boxers, harley aftershave, harley roll on, harley desk blotter, harley socks, a harley special edition Ford F150 and a start on a harley tatoo, its to late to go to a porsche, I theres no resale on the ford and told every other executive trust accountant in the association that I was going to be just like them at last......."

Doctors have been noticing a change as less chronic polishing injuries are being reported. But senior advisers, board members and tax lawyers are showing higher amounts of work time lost due to injuries due to playing with there kids and grandkids, doing work around the home, helping out neighbours, playing sport and generally suffering due to having a more active lifestyle.

Roadside urban Cafes charging over 6 dollars for coffees and 10 dollars for a panini have expressed worry

H-D have stopped production a few times this year as sales are down (80% of bikes are sold in the domestic market). It's no big deal. There are some bikes which still have a solid waiting list.

So much anti-Harley crap on this forum. Get a life (and maybe a few adult education evening classes). If it all goes well you may be able to arrive at an original thought and even, perhaps, get a job that pays enough to buy a Harley.

S'OK. H-D invite piss taking with their corny 'in the wind' and 'freedom' bullshit marketing. The 'righteous' riders are an easy target too. Still, some nice bikes.

Not quite. They were 883's with only certain mods allowed. Shitload of fun to race though. Doesn't matter how slow your race bike is...as long as you've got 20 other loonies on the same pile of poo with the same problems!

What he said - it was loads of fun watching the Sporties around Ruapuna years back - sounded cool as well. Maybe they should get that new Sporster 1200 thingy a race class - cheap starting price for a race bike as well - ride in, unbolt a few bits, tape the lights and presto!

It was the best fun I've had road racing...and I've raced all sorts of things.

I purchased Morgan and Wakers ex race bike for 10k with a shitload of spares...and raced it for 2 & 1/2 seasons without any troubles. That is...apart from crash damage! Not too many classes you can get to race against people like Ainstey etc for that sort of money. For sure if they bring in XR1200 racing...I'll dust my leathers off. They'd be way faster than what we had then too.

HD and the people that steer the ship are pretty switched on people. That...and the US government would never let HD fold. Hell...it's a more known brand name world wide than probably Ford or General Motors now days.

They keep all of the dealers up to date with what's going on...they're really straight up...couldn't ask for more.

People would always ask bruce why he was racing a harley and when he pointed out that a win was worth $500.00 and we would normally win the both of them only lost 1 race in 1998 and that was the last because we didn't race it I think at the time a superbike win was only $250.00 and HD will always have people who want there bikes but as pete say"s a class with 20 xr1200's would be fun.
