I know its a bit short notice (thanks to the winter weather) I understand if some of you cant make it........

Most of you will generally know which way we are going up and coming back. For those who have not been on any of my rides, I will explain in detail where we are going / whats happening before we leave Westgate.

sorry to all for the hold up due to my drive belt snapping, and a huge thanks to those who helped especially Shane for getting me Hm.

when you ride straight off the road on a corner ( no damage ) and do some off roading, then snap your drive belt 50 odd km down the road you have to wonder if you should have stayed hm, some days..........

I hope all got home well.

And I guess if there a lessons to be learnt from today it is that if your tractor has a hole in the drive belt you should only wait 5 months not 6 before getting it replaced

Not to mention regular tyre changes before tackling those bumpy rough roads... Glad you all got home safe, it was a fantastic ride and I totally agree with Carl... just what the doctor ordered to put a smile on the dial.

Oh... and correct fitment of number plates would be good prep as well

Thanks Dawn and Steve.. well worth the spin.

It certainly was.

... he introduce me to Ginger :Police:. ... he was pull over 6 bikes
.WTF is his problem he hate bikers !!!

Little prick followed me south from around the tunnel - for ages.
Then he is along side or just in front - for ages. Then he takes off after the other guys who had a bit of a gap on me. No way to warn them but they were riding all safe and legal. He then pulls into the slow vehicle lane and waits until the Greville Rd. flyover before putting on his lights. I look in my mirrors and see lights on. Guy in front of me must have had a guilty conscious as he hits the picks. I nearly run up his arse as I'm looking behind me. So I'm not happy already and that made it worse. He didn't seem to want to follow my hand gestured instructions to feck off and leave me alone so I finally pull over.
Starts off wanting to know why I had taken so long to pull over.
"Well why the hell would I think you were wanting to pull me over? I wasn't doing anything wrong."
Then he reckons I had come tearing up behind him and only slowed down when I realised he was a cop. So of course I told him I thought he was full of shit. Takes my licence away to his car. Comes back and tells me I haven't got a WOF. So I point out the WOF on the bike. 'Well it's not on the system"
"Well that's not my fault" I reply.
"Well it's not my fault" he says.
The goes to write out a ticket and says I will have to take the test sheet in to ..... I Say "why don't you just look at it. You can see Where it was issued and the expiry date etc." as I had cleverly put it in the holder with all that info facing out.
"No I can't ", he says. Must be a bit shortsighted eh?
"Well look at this test sheet then", I say as I pull the sheet out of the glove box on my bike. I think he is unhappy to see that and also to see my radar detector and gps. I figure he can see I can prove I wasn't speeding so he has to drop his bullshit story.
"So why did you pull me over", I ask.
"Licence and Registration check " he replies.
"Oh for fucks sake", I grab my licence, jump on the bike and take off.

Cops stopping people on motorways for Reg and WOF checks. How ridiculous. Said he had just stopped another biker before me. Haszard County! He needs fat guts, sunglasses, jackboots and a gun on his hip to complete the stereotype. He definitely has the attitude already.

Great day out people thank you all.
Hinny that mufti cop was pinging us on and off from the BP at Dairy Flat all the way to Albany, I saw the lights flashing from behind you when I was on the off ramp and wondered what was up.
I also noticed yesterday the cops we past used “instant on" the second they saw we were on bikes we were defiantly on the hit list all day.
Just as well you can carry your filing cabinet with you while riding the ST.

Just had a look at fuel consumption figs.
Westgate to Kaikohe. 26 litres 14.03kms/litre.
10th best fuel consumption in two years.
Must have been taking it easy.
Worst fuel consumption was the first part of Northern Exposure tour this year when Ginga harassed us for the first 140?kms of the trip. Cruising at 80kph - 100kph max. Off the power band? maybe in lower gears. Used a lot more fuel than normal.

Hinny, might be the time for a new bike & helmet mate!

Old Ginga seems to be targeting you!

When I was young and reckless back in the 80's I had a distinctive GPZ750 Turbo  and bright red lid. I got a bad rep from the local cops for the way I rode it a few times and was for ever being stopped for 'spot checks' almost every day I was out on it even though I'd modified my behaviour.
It took a few weeks but I got the message that I was being targeted. Sold the bike and changed my helmet, GSXR750 slabby and a blue lid..........no more 'spot checks'.

I don't think it is just me. Din said he stopped six riders earlier in the day. He told me he had just finished harrassing another biker and he left me alone after tailing me for ages and took after the other guys I was riding with that had got a bit of a gap on me. They were on their best behaviour so he slowed down and waited for me.
I thought it was a rally dumb place he finally decided to stop me. On a bridge!
He's a keen little bastard. Are bikers an easier target or harder? Does he hope they will do a runner so he has an excuse for 'hot pursuit, hot pusuit'
He needs a dog to fulfill that Hazaed County archytype. What was that Sherriffs dog? A Beagle? A beagle for a muppet. Fitting.

Na mate we split straight down one. Everyone was pretty shagged by that stage and it was getting dark so it was a safer option.
