:wari: Well, I had the chance to pillion this morning, so I took the bull by the horns, so to speak, and it wasn't as bad as what I'd imagined! My girlfriend knew I was a bit nervous, so she sat real still back there and by the time we got across town I was grinning like crazy! Then, whaddya know? This afternoon I pillioned the daughter as well! Next thing is to pillion on my GT250R instead of a lil KR150. Haha :soon:

Sure is easier on a bigger bike though. But good on ya. Gotta learn sometime:scooter:

A pillion on a 150? Was it like riding a scooter with the extra weight?

Hell of a lot easier when they sit still ... my main problem as the rider is its me who wirggles!

My 11 year old could not sit still if his life depended on it.... Which it sometimes does lol. He loves looking out the highside when cornering. I'm used to it now.. Mostly

My funniest pillioning experience was not so long ago in Napier on a tiny little scooter. Fully geared up (ATGATT after all) myself and the lovey yungatart headed out. Very friendly configuartion it was too, there is not a lot of room on those scooter seats :pinch: Happily pootling along when I feel her groping my legs in a questioning manner. Oh my golly gosh, I know she likes me but :blip:

Turns out she was as confused as I was, put her hands down on her legs and could not feel them. So she was testing to see if she had gone numb from the waist down. Like I said not much room on a scooter seat :sunny:

I take one of my kids anywhere I go, on R1 or ST 1100, bigger bike is better for taking pillion on, you need more power as you got more weight. I'm big guy so I'm not worried about them mowing around, but on ST1100, my kids keep falling sleep on long rides :shit: ,about 6 times that happened, because ST is so quiet an comfortable and I had to strap them to my self, so they don't fall of the bike, my R1 is bit to nose to go to sleep.

A pillion on a 150? Was it like riding a scooter with the extra weight?LOL nah bro it's a KR - that little thing goes like a haunted shithouse. It will pull 150k no sweat at all, even with my fat arse on it. Modified, a lot more...

Took out the daughter late this afternoon on the back of the GT250R. I could felt the extra weight on the bike but once out on the open road, I was sweet as. Just took it easy as low speeds.

This weekend with the KR150 and trying pillioning for the first time, I feel like I have climbed a mountain! Haha..

Used to pillion the wif on the RG150, although it could handle it without too much fuss, changing gears all the time was a pain! Happy to say that Thumper is much more fun to pillion, I forget that someone is on the back sometimes - go SV :Punk:

I have pillioned my kids since I started riding really, they love bikes as much as me.... however I draw the line at pillioning someone bigger than me....

Pillioning is fine - especially if you have a bigger bike.

Kids just need a stern talking too - my son was scared going through the Woodville gorge when he was younger, kept leaning the wrong way, so I threw up the helmet as asked if he wanted to go down there (pointing into the river), told him if he didn't lean with me and fast, that was where we'd end up - never had any problems with him since that day

I've given a couple of mates rides on the back of my RG150.
Not fast, but not too sluggish either, we hit 140kms at one point with me 75kgs and him 80kgs. On a closed private road of course

The only real problem is constantly flicking through the gears to get the power delivery right. And getting used to slow speed corners around town, boy was that fun. One minute you'd be going off the road and the next nearly getting your knee down unintentionally.
But once you get the weight sorted out it's awesome fun!

An RG150 isn't nearly as bad as carrying someone on the back of a YB100 bucket racer. Trust me.
Not power or clutch wheelies, WEIGHT wheelies in every gear. Good fun.

good on you! the extra weight is too much for me. i think the situation would be improved if my next bike was lowered and i wasn't tippy toes on the ground? tried to pillion a friend recently to see if i could do it but it felt like there was way too much weight for me to stabilise the bike when stopping. am i missing something?? maybe pillion someone who is significantly lighter than me? :( :(

With no pillion, practice your slow speed stopping. Roll up to a stop and concentrate on using the bars to keep the bike perrrrfectly on balance. Put your feet down when you need to, but use only tippy toes when stopping, and the steering to do all of the balance - avoid using weight on feet to hold the bike up.

Once you have that perfect, then try repeating the practice with a lightweight pillion. Now you should be fine, until you forget to do it. ;)

Ive taken a couple of pillions on my GN. Both were close to the same weight as me. I think Id be a lil bit worried taking someone that is too much heavier than me. Might have to get all my friends to tell me how much they weigh so I can slowly work my way up lol.

Sounds like a recipe for disaster! I'd be stopping and giving some rather stern instructions that if they weren't followed then she'd be walking home!:argh:
