Hey guys
I have a slight problem with my bike. Gas is leaking from the hoses which lead to the carb, possibly a hose that leads to the choke as well?!?!. It pisses out. Could be to do with why the bike wont start either.....
Any ideas? Was pretty keen to ride the 2man tomorrow lol...

The float is valve is jambed open. If you haven't had the carb off or anything give the carb a few taps on the side with the handle end of a screw driver so the float valve closes or the jambed floats settle back down.
If you could start it often the floats will settle with the vibration of the bike.
Had it been on its side or something??
Try this as a quick first check anyway!

Yeh we've given the carb afew taps.. well, alot of taps. Still coming out. My bike was working fine last sunday, havnt started it since then. Nah it hasnt been on its side, got drowned with water about 4 weeks ago thats all I can think of.
I think ill have to take the carb out and see if theres any dirt etc. That the next step?

Yeh you'll have to strip it and re assemble it. Probably dirt in there or your floats need a service and are sticking.
As a check that the floats are working fine. Put a hose on the inlet and blow down it gently, turning the carb upside down. You will feel the air go through when its upside down and close of right side up. You might even hear and feel the floats sliding. This way you will know eveything is working before you put it back on the bike!
The above is on the basis that you the floats levels are ok and you haven't been toying with them in the past.

BTW: the quickest way I've found to get the carb off and on, with my 2 smokers. Is to whip the seat off, loosen the carb boot, remove the three bolts holding the rear subframe, and take the whole bloody rear section off muffler and all.
Just a thought! they are a bitch to refit if you don't have decent access.

Yeah we've taken the carb off, didnt notice any dirt or anything. Possibly just taking the carb apart might have free'd up something? Not to sure. Spark plug is sparking, no troubles there. Going to reinstall the carb and hopefully works out ....

Probably didn't fire because it just took longer for the fuel to get to the cylinder than your leg could stand and the crash start solved it.
Glad all is ok!
Its good to strip the carb everynow and then so you can tick that off your maintenance schedule now LOL!!!

My KTM does the same. It hates having the gas turned off for periods so i leave the gas on all the time.
Its the seat on the float chamber valve that is the culprit. They seem to get grit in there and it doesn't shut off properly.
In time they actually make a groove so that it will never seat correctly.
