The Wellington/Kapiti/Hutt multi Tag Challenge.

The Wellington/Kapiti/Hutt multi Tag Challenge.

25 Tag locations between Miramar and Waikanae including the Hutt Valley. The challenge is to Post all 25. To be completed by Sunday 2nd Aug.
(I've actually done everyone of them yesterday and today!)

NB: When posting a tag, do not give away it's location.

Find the locations, then organise the route to grab the tags.
Hint: grab the local ones during the week and plan your week-end to grab the rest.

The final destination is a meet of anyone taking part/watching/would like to take part in the Wellington Tag-a-rama.

Where: Staglands
When : Sunday 2nd Aug
Time : Somewhere between 2pm and 3pm

If you don't want to grab the tag's, just come along to Staglands and catch up with other KB members.

Clues will be given later in the week. All of these should be easy to find and generally well known landmarks. One or two of them are a bit curly but with some deductive reasoning they can be worked out.

Once you figure out a few, you will be able to track the route I took to get them which will narrow the search.

Can't see more than 10 playing and maybe 5 going for it. If it becomes an issue, I'm sure the mods will let us know.

Well, my bike more specifically. Went out for a few hours this afternoon and the goddamn bike broke down in bloody Trentham! :mad:

After enduring public transport to get back to Wellington, now it's time to suss out a trailer and go back and get it! Not happy!

staglands is the venue anyways.....this is just an overdose of taggin before you meet all the other addicts....!Not sure really how its gonna go down.I nearly have em all now!
Google is pretty awesome...and in other ways not.A like phrase doesnt always work but some more obscure way of saying the same thing might!

182km trip to get them all. That is according to Garmin Mapsource if I load all the tags and set with a slight preference to highways and shortest route. Riding time according to Mapsource is 3 hrs and 13 minutes, that doesn't allow for the time it takes to take pictures or refreshment stops (how many pubs are there along the route?).
So if I can figure out a way of rigging the camera on the bike to take pictures of every tag without stopping then if I leave at 11.30am on Sunday morning I should be able to get all the tags before we meet at Staglands at 3pm. :Punk:

Made it back with the bike - thanks guys.

That'll teach me not to shut the engine off while tagging! Just wouldn't restart. I've got compression, fueI, but no spark. I think it's the hall sensor that triggers the ignition.

I don't really have the time to diagnose/fix this and get back on the tagging horse for this weekend, so that's me out for now. Yesterday was s'posed to be my big push to get 'em all. Got 15 after all that. Maybe I shoulda trailered past the remaining ones! :laugh:

Well, the bike runs. Apparently the ignition control unit is what left me stranded yesterday. Replaced it with a spare today and the engine is boxing happily again.

But I'm out for a while regardless, cause this has been a little bit of a wake-up call for me. I've been riding around with no WOF or reg. so I consider my luck pushed.

Havent quite worked out how this is supposed to play out since the plan was to collect the Non local Tags on the way to the meet on the weekend - I guess the most important part is "The MEET".:2thumbsup


The original idea was to create a Treasure Hunt which could be followed to finish at Staglands so we could all meet. I was going to put a KB tag with a 'special code' at each site forcing you to have to visit the site to get it. Therefore you would have a week to track down the locations to plan your route, but needed to pick up the tag on the day.
But with everyone being so wide spread, the logistics got too complex for the time I had available this week-end. I would have had to visit every tag location very early on Sunday to drop the tag off.

So for a bit of fun, I chose the current theme of just find all 25 tags.

The MEET is the important thing (and getting out on the bike).

Yes, I think Hawkeye can be proud of his challenge, it kind of leaves people Torn between threads at the moment - and YES Aero's ghost school is a SHITE. I cant chase either set of tags this week, but Hawkeye's challenge meant that there was more than enuf to keep me busy on Google for the first three days this week.

Hey! I'm glad you guy's have enjoyed the game. I got fairly creative with one or two of them but as I've said earlier, it's all about getting out there and riding.

Having the challenge of the hunt first just adds to the game. The game is all about the players and you guy's have been awesome to take up the challenge.:clap:

I did pull up outside of Motormart last week-end. I was going to use that for a tag because poeple could kill 2 birds with one stone. Grab the tag and get the bike set up at the same time. :lol:

I'm hoping to get there myself but Sat is a big day with personal things going on so might not make it.

Nah! Also depends on where you start when heading south. If you are starting at Bulls then you do pass this heading south but it can't be seen from the road. You need to look at the pic and decide what it LOOKS like. From there you use logic. One of the tags in the normal game was at the entrance to this location.

i was at motomart from around 9-11 thismorning, lucky for me my rear shock is rebuildable... i'd rather just buy the hypermotard i testrode today but thats a few $$$ more than a shock rebuild

How about we meet at motomart or avalon park at 1 20...be about 30-40 minutes to staglands???

its strangely satisfying to ride up to a spot and recognise exactly where the tag is .
Even the spots i recognised srtraight away still give you a buzz when you see the spot the tag was taken.

had an interesting ride home...the clutch has been feeling a bit strange lately have adjusted it lots in the last few days...when i pulled the clutch in to take off from stag lands ...ping...broken clutch cable....made all the traffic lights interesting on the way home....thanks for sticking with me laxi!

Yes, Good end to a great game throughout the week.
Good to catch up with you fellows and even enjoyed the Ride to Staglands considering the Damp.
The Ride home was Evil once we hit Puatahanui, as if the Wind Gusts werent bad enuf The OWIE OWIE OWIE with the Pelting rain and the open face helmet reminded me why I love to ride in summer.

once yer rollin its fine...but you have to snick neutral as you come to a stop.When the lights turn green got to get her rollin and stomp(ouch) into gear,then its all clutchless shifting.
