The NRRA are implementing several changes in the organisation & setup for 2010, in order to streamline the days racing, which will then hopefully open up more time. It is a very involved task to try & fit in as many categories as possible, within the time & Council constraints. With the changes happening in 2010, it is our aim to be able to invite buckets to race in 2011.
The NRRA sent a letter outlining this to Brent Cotton. We have not as yet had a reply to this letter.
We look forward to seeing you all in 2011 :scooter:

I have the letter fromNelson Road Racing Assoc and have put the details up on the BMRC website.
I have to say that I didn't realise it needed a response as it was telling us that we were not going to be given any racing at the 2010 race meet, but that they would see what happens with the trialling of some changes and that perhaps we might get invited next year.
The tone of the letter -I don't mean that in a bad way - didn't invite any discussion.
I will draft a reply to acknowledge receipt of the letter.
There would need to be some major changes before we would race there again.

The NRRA has a new committee this year & we are committed to making the Nelson Port Racing a high quality professional event. The committee is made up of 5 people, who put a whole years (voluntary) effort into putting this event together.
We have 150 rider entries & potentially 8 classes of bikes to manage, within the time & Council restraints. We have 5000 people who come to watch an action packed day. We have a lot of top quality riders, from all classes, coming from all over the country & we have to arrange a suitable outcome for everyone. As already mentioned, we are doing a lot of work to streamline the day to try & make more time.
The issues the bucket club raised 3 years ago have been seriously dealt with already
Any further correspondence can be sent via P O Box 972 Nelson

Wahoooo, what a day!! Without a doubt this was the best street race I have ever attended. Despite heavy rain just before practice and light rain during practice, despite the odd crash, and despite classics dropping long oil slicks around 3 or 4 turns TWICE, we still got a full 3 rounds in, a 10 lap King of Port, and finished on time. Awesome stuff!
I got in 2 practices and nine races, and while my results were poor, I had a fantastic time. A would just like to give a big thanks to the comittee, volunteers, flaggies, fire, ambo's, and everyone else that made today possible. Best Port Races ever!

I too had an awesome day & was stoked to have a ball & not crash...it was Choice!!
Spent the evening before camped up in the pits with 2 characters from Wellington, barby going ,beautiful evening with a fat moon rising over the yachts in the harbour..was way cool.
The morning looked completely different, with the rain & all ,but which washed the crap off the streets all nicely away.
Great track I thought & had some good dicing here & there. I learnt one important thing which was to make sure that the bike is in gear when the flag is dropped....
Big thanks to the "CREW" who got it all together, then took it all down at the end of the day. It was really well run you folk & it was the best day of 2010 for me !!
