View Full Version : Stickered bikes?

What do you peoples think of other people riding up the road on a bike stickered up like a race bike, (with brand stickers all over) such as vodafone etc ??

If you own it, do what you like with it.

By "stickers" presumably you're talking about non-bike related stickers?

And buy/use a spell checker. Misspelled posts are way more irritating than stickers on bikes.

Where is the "whats it to ya" option ?

The ONLY "cool" faired sports 250 I have ever seen to date was a CBR250RR with a full set of Lucky Strike replica fairings, down by Botany Downs. That was hella sweet.

I have an RGV Lucky Strike, and if I get my way, I'll add a Rothmans NSR and a Marlboro TZR to the pack one day. So obviously I think it's great :)

Custom jobs can be a bit hit and miss; there are a lot of badly done replicas, and replicas of replicas.

As with everything, a job well done looks great, an average one looks average.

Number boards are ok, but I draw the line at adding a number on a road bike, that's just feels like you're asking for trouble (from the police).

If it's a race replica type bike, then it's kinda kewl, sort of paying homage to your favourite bike and/or rider. Otherwise, it's kinda naff.
I've deliberately destickered my bike, apart from the "Honda" and VFR" decals. The Honda one is under lacquer anyway. I've heaps in my cupboard for components I've bought, so now that the only evidence of my recent fork overhaul is the decals that somehow mysteriously affixed themselves to the bottom of the sliders, I'm wondering if I should add further embellishments to further draw people's eyes away from the scratched paintwork....

Prapsnot. <_<
It is a VFR after all.

My last bike was different - no race replica, but the previous owner had added GoFastBits in the form of decals advertising things that weren't present, like a jet kit. So, I added some for things that were there, like a Unifilter, APE CCTs, etc. Distracted onlookers eyes away from those urglee FahrtSturm lines...

Not in KB you don't... the opinions of the masses are law.

Hitcher.. that's sedition that is! Potty mouth!

It was pained all black.

.

That pretty much sums it up for me too, I have seen a lot of bikes with race numbers on though. I take it it's legal in NZ?. Not allowed in the UK, apparently if you stick a number on your bike you will think you're Rossi and won't be able to control your urges.:shifty:

each to there own... if vodoafone paid me money I would seriously concider it myself... as long as if it was temporary and the year was up they came off with no hassles and or issues ;)

28th July 2009, 12:19
It can work on some bikes.

I wouldn't do it myself, but don't care if anyone else does it.

Not that they'd care what I or anyone else thinks.

I personally wouldn't, but if it means something to the rider/owner then why not. If it's just for wannabe looks then I think it's uncool.

Well I just put the lights back on my 748R racebike and rode it to work today...its regd and wof'd.... At least it is a REAL racebike....

Race replicas are way cool...what I wouldnt give to be riding a Bayliss or Fogarty replica Ducati...especially that 1098 that was at Manfield on Sunday!!!

If you have a pile of after-market bits in your bike its cool to sticker the bike up :) If you have a stock bike with all the gear stickers ... thats a bit floral. I'd sticker the 10 up if i had the bits but only cause i like the look, i don't really care about what other people think about my bike..

And of course the race replica's are cool all stickered up :Punk:

I got a lot off stickers on mine due to just buying heaps off aftermarket parts and i just get them free.

I love race replicas. And I don't give a rats arse what any one else thinks about it.

I even put a MotoGP replica exhaust on the Repsol. (It was cheap as chips which clinched it)

Wannabee ? Farkin oath I want to be like Rossi - who wouldn't want to ride as well as him ?

It's not about that though - I reckon it just looks the shizzle.

MarkH
28th July 2009, 12:57
I don't like stickers all over a bike, kinda looks tacky. A race replica is not so bad.

But if the owner of the bike likes its looks then who cares if I don't?

Watch out Dave, you will have the NZRU down on ya for unauthorised use of a trademarked phrase.

How about a Dunhill BMW GS to complete the set lol

I think its up to the individual.
However there does seem to be an attitude with some who turn up to a ride looking like a "tube-of-toothpaste". Likewise if they turn up looking like a gay western

I used to ride my stickered up RG round town all the time and commute on my nyloned and numbered up FXR 'bucket-commuter'. I get some funny looks but as I dont have any type of image that I feel the need to maintain I actually dont give a flying f*ck what other people think!

Not my cup-o-tea.

Having said that if it was really annoyingly loud and doing near the speed of sound past me I'd give it a thumbs up (despite the obviously anti-social implications).

That they're trying to hide the road rash.

Yeah personally i like a clean look, Race rep are definatley acceptable if done correctly. With add-on bits stickers im so per-dan-tic that if i did put any on and they werent straight or look good it would bug me me something insane. in saying this i have seen a few examples of it done quite tidy and looking good and keeping them to a sensible amount

I have Nismo & TRD stickers all over my bike. They make it look fast so that I can get other boy racers to race me in 50km hour zones.
