So now I need to get me a bucket sorted!
The GP100 motor is in about a million bits, so that'll be my fist task...trying to figure out how to put it back together.
I've also decided that I need to find a rolling chassis, I haven't got the skill to put all of the various bike bits that I've got together to make one...found this (http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=231967131), but freight will probably put it out of my price range. Anyone know of anything suitable?
And...I hear KiwiBiker now has a resident 2-stroke chamber building expert :) Cause I need one of those too.
Can't wait to get back on the track!
John.

We have found a RG250 chamber works well with a GP125, not sure how it would go with a 100 but it would be a cheap and easy thing to try.
The other thing RG250 chambers are good for, are their front sections. Design your own chamber and then see if you can use the header section of a RG250 pipe because they have a very nicely formed front section that can be cut out and re-used.
Saving yourself a lot of work making the difficult header bit. If you can use the RG250 header in your own chamber design then you are only left with making basically straight mid section and tail piece cones.
On some of our bikes we have used RG250 headers and made the rest of the pipe in the same heavy material, and they stand up to the crash and bash of Buckets very well.

I hear 4 stokes are the way to go these days :shifty:

Excellent! We should take a look at the bits you have and see what's really needed.

You should super charge it. If you're not sure how then you should start a thread...

Excellent advice!

A year ago, I would have agreed with you...but 2-smokes are just so basic and the GP turned out to be bloody reliable, hopefully it'll still be reliable once it's rebuild.

I really think it's just going to be too hard and take too much time, but feel free to swing round and take a look :)
I do like the idea of finding a rolling chassis and sticking the motor in.

I knew this was going to happen!
As long as you kept all the bits in a safe place, you should be able to put it back together. 2 strokes are simple! Even i can put one back together.

Yeah, but will it run?
Actually - when will the Aprilia make it's next debut?

Good stuff, Slingy.
Be good to see you back out on the track rather than carving me up in peak-hour traffic on your R6 !!

Exactly.
If Aprilia can win the last (1st one at Brno) WSBK race on the RSV4, then you can here !!! ;)

She's close! Just needs to put a bolt with a nut on it this time through the swingarm, maybe some brakes, better tyres and nylon. It's looking good though.

It's amazing what a bit of motivation can do :)
This is going to be the basis for my new bucket:

The RGV has now arrived, courtesy of Marcus (http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/member.php?u=10941) (Biggles Racing (http://www.facebook.com/Bigglesracing?ref=mf)) who very kindly picked it up in Auckland and transported it to Manfeild, and Skunk (http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/member.php?u=2010) who brought it the rest of the way and delivered it to my door :)
On closer inspection, it looks like it's going to do the job very nicely!
According to Sketchy (http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/member.php?u=3231), the rear shock has no rebound damping and one of the fork seals is poked, but other than that it's in good nick.
I slipped the GP100 into the existing mounts tonight, it sits a bit low and a bit to the right so my current thinking is to make up a bracket that bolts into the existing mounts...I'll need to consult my chief engineer (http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/member.php?u=2010).
Next job is to finish rebuilding the GP100...still procrastinating over cutting the rotary disk valve :). Then I'll sort out the forks and shock, then I'll worry about mounting the motor!
It's bloody good having an excuse to get into the garage (or garge).

The frame is now stripped, and it turns out that I'm destined to crush my fingers every time I do work on the farken thing. First when I was dropping the engine out last week and then when I was pulling the rear shock off last night.
Still procrastinating over that bloody disk valve.
