Ok guys I need some suggestions,

So last week, Thursday I moved to a new house and durring all the moving in and car loads of stuff I finished around 12.30am. I left my car on the road...

In front of a ped crossing light over the car and no bend, round about prob 100 feet away. No need for concern I thought.

So Friday I get up to go to work and some ASSHOLE has hit my car and just left. No note nadda just a pile of shit and a smashed up car. :(

Happened around 2-6am so Im sure it was a drunk. No skid marks s/he just smacked it and then drove off........

I check my insurance and no sorry you have third party and we would only cover if you had his details and he wasnt insured.

I know I know 3rd party prob wasnt the best but the car has an immobolizer, had its own secure park (at the old house) and its too late I dont need the lecture pwwwease.

So pretty much that was one hell of an expensive move and I dont have a car now.

So the car is still parked where it was hit.
Is rego and warrented and was an ex car, never had any problems.
Has lotsa gadgets like a remote starter, beeps when goes backwards, good stereo and I started the car with the remote starter and she fired up. The motor is good as it was side rear ended.......

Do I put it on trademe?
If so how much?
Is it worth trying to fix it?

Suggestions welcome

Shit, bad luck.

Does it drive?? See if you can get it to a panelbeater and get an assesment of the repair bill. I suspect it's a write-off.

Dollar reserve it on TM - you'll probably do OK.

looks pretty mangled aye, dont spose anyone was likely to have seen anything in the neighbourhood? Or go CSI on his ass and reconstruct his number plate imprint from the dents :bleh:

Be a good idea to get an expert opinion on it, see exactly how much of it would need replacing, whether any chassis damage could be repaired or whatever.

Fucking stink bastard whoever did it for just driving off.

The perp was probably pissed too.

Get a p/beater to give it the once over but in today's market it might be cheaper to replace it.

Lesson; leave Auckland for good.

Looks pretty rooted to me.

I am sure you could do without this greif.

Get someone with fully comp insurance to drive their already damaged car into you and get both fixed and paid for.

You just pay for their increased renewal nexy year.

I have no idea about cars or parts, I was thinking of just putting it on trade me. Its still warrented and rego for 3 months so someone who is good with cars may want it.....

I wouldnt know or have the time to break it down

Its weird actually too because I cant see any other color paint so Im thinking it was a high truck type and hit it with its bumper. There also doesnt seem to be any foreign stuff lying around that doesnt belong to my car.

No paint transfer is strange and for there to be no extra bits and for them to drive off is bizzare, its not a high hit, I think you were hit by an old ute or old kingswood/falcon etc. Not good!

Bullbars mate, looks like a crash by an SUV of some sort or a vehicle which is high.

Not a high speed crash though, probably less than 60 k's an hour.

There are some dogey ways of getting around it with insurance, I need not to suggest it though

The rim damage would indicate the driver will be visiting wheel alignment shop at some point.if its suv with bull bars it might not have damaged the body much but he/she will need the alignment sorted straight away.
Do some calls in the area as good chance its a local.

Bummer T/L, that has to suck ! Is there a driveway accross from the car ? Could almost think some one with a truck deck backed into it, or like someone said alloy bull bars perhaps !
someone with a car the same and panel beater/welding skills could fix it up pretty close but unfortunately i think your gonna get squat for it !

Does not look like the car was traveling same way as yours was facing. Looks to me very much like a side on - like someone else mentioned with flatdeck reversing out of their drive.

For there to be no other debris or paint transfer it is most likely a commercial truck of some sort or possibly a heavy passenger vehicle with bullbars but I doubt it. Damage is too high up to be light passenger vehicle.

No mention of a police report Trump lady. I hope you gave them a call thats a hit an run. The local Howick cops are pretty familiar with the area an they might spot a newly damaged vehicle if its anywhere around? Gossamer is a pretty busy street you might just get lucky??

Sorry about your car.Where those marks in the mud on the pavement there before your car was hit? Was the rust from the other vehicle or had you just waited a few days before you took the pics?I now keep my car parked inside after a similiar bad experience. I hate wankers that do such things. If your car is still driveable get a quote from a panelbeater. Then at least you can make an informed decision.
Thought it was your bike parked out there the other day I went past.Unfortuneately Gossamer is a fairly busy thoroughfair.

The thing that surprises me is that you left a skyline on the roadside over night and it did not get stolen!! Gone in 60 seconds here in ChCh.
subaru wrx's and skylines are some of the most common cars stolen in NZ.
Put it on trade me but with a $2000 reserve, you will get your money.
It would be like putting a MotoGuzi with a smashed front end up for sale.
It will create a lot of interest

Theres one car there now and no damamge and chances are if it was them they are not going to leave it where I can see it. Neighbour said he heard it happen around 4am but didnt see anything. Shall I call the cops and ask them to go over and say a witness saw them?

Yes (but let 'em know they heard it, not saw it). That what the cops are for. It might take a while but they'll have a note on their files at the very least and when they do get around to it the recorded series of incidents and data associated with it will be reasonably complete

Either that or could also be a one off, someone half parking on the grass half on the road.

Remain neutral and open though you can't assume or accuse anybody till you get the facts, in case it wasn't the neighbours but some random drunk.

My car was parked on the road outside a party. A car hit my car and drove off. The following driver saw it, got the rego and came into the party and found me. Damn good of him I must say. As we were inspecting the damage the neighbour across the road came over and confirmed the rego plate.

I go straight to the Police station and report it. They lift a pain sample there and then.

No problem right?
Wrong!
The guy denied it and no one could confirm who was actually driving - none of the witnesses actually saw the driver such that they could identify him.

He got off. I handed the detail I had to my insurers and they sorted out my damage, but the guy walked without a charge.

You may not be out of the woods yet.

Why didn't they serve

I have not replied because Im so angered at the stupidity of people........

So I listed on Trademe, then insurance said I must not sell it till investigation was finished.

Cops told me wait two weeks then request the file

So I called and got told no investigation has been done. After multiple phone calls and being given the run around I was told......

Oh yeah we were meant to call you. As it happens we didnt check when we had the witness report. Turns out the witness actually wrote your number plate down and when we called her she couldnt remember the person who hit your cars number plate. All we know is it was a black ute. So when you were told we had a rego number that was correct but we have since discovered its yours and there for have not investigated.

Now wtf when you witness a car hitting another and leaving would you TAKE THE REGO OF THE CAR HIT????

Like I wouldnt fuckin know my car had been hit. WTF is the rational behind that? What makes a person say to them selfs....omg he just did a hit and run....quick let me write down the damage cars number plate and report that tot he police!

I mean wtf is wrong with poeple.......

Needless to say I relisted on Trade me
Got 800
Bought a dunga I hate and Im still getting used to winding down my window, listening to static on the radio and turning a key to lock the car :(

I doubt my single status will change as my hopes of a drive by pickup are very slim in my new-old car.

But so is life and I guess Im fortunate I had enough to get some new wheels and lesson learnt

Even my new-old dunga has full insurance......
