zzr/zxr front forks

hey guys n gals, just got a quick question for ya'll.
My zzr250's front forks are poked basicly and wont hold a seal and I was wondering if the front forks from a zxr are the same as zzrs? Or is the travel and rebound or even the overall length etc of zxr forks too different from my zzrs to work? Im asking because I was told by someone in the local kawa dealership, but he wasnt 100% sure other than that "they should work".

Well for starters the ZZR has right way up forks, and the ZXR has upside down forks, so they are totally different. I wouldn't count on the chances of he headstock being the same as the frames are quite different as well. SO doing a full swap yokes inculded might still not work, as the head stock length is slighty longer on the ZZR, someone may of done it???? But i wouldn't fancy ya chances. I have both a ZZR250 and ZXR250 in the garage at the moment and it dosen't look like a easy if possible swap.

You'd be better off fixing the forks you have, but they sound like they are screwed, or trying to find a wrecked bike with good forks from a ZZR, if no luck in NZ try Metropoliatin (sp) wreckers or Victorian wreckers over in Oz, prices are just as good.

Cheers for the help, well i guess that settles that then :)
My partners father (he used to build bikes :Punk: )
is in Wellers and is hopefully gonna have a look at one of the dismantlers there as it has a zzr thats being dismantled and wether its worth buying Aslo, has anyone had experiance at re-polishing forks or re-chroming them, as they were yet another option i was given when I went to a different and more reliable imo bike shop. Cos either way Id prefer to stay away from forking out (no pun intended ;) ) two or three times the money for brand new factory forks.
But on that note, are there affordable aftermarket forks that could be used instead of the factory ones?

my suggestion to ya is to strip ya forks down. Actually just one will be fine
take the chrome section into a wrecker and see what chromes are the same size. If theyre a little bit over long its not a problem you just have the forks sticking further through the top triple clamp.
You might have to muck around with the fork bottom bolt a little bit but usually its not a hassle.
