You done this before Rupe?
Thought I might have a go but don't know really....... might - lack of fitness, too old and likely to break something......... me ....... or the bike puts me off.
However never done it before so I'm always keen to do something once. Is it as hard as it sounds. Scares me when it says " no trail riders":shit::wacko:

Nah, never done it and haven't been riding that long so haven't really had the chance. Don't think it would be much harder than any other race you've done, just depends if feel up to 3hrs, not sure I do at present but see what happens nearer the time

Don't let the 'no trail riders' thing put you off A&R. Some events have a trail ride on same course day before or after, that's all. Haven't licked the Toad yet myself but looking at last year results, race looks to be roughly 3 1/2 hours average time for most.
Birchy marked course one year and a few found it a bit tough. I think last year might have had hard/easy options here and there as well? Danger did this race not too long ago I think?

Here you go boys, dug out a report I did when I did it two years ago. Might give you some idea.
http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/showthread.php?p=1178949#post1178949
Last year I couldn't make race day but gave the boys a hand to mark it out.
Was hoping to ride it again this year but afraid not with one thing and another. At least I have one Toad in the cabinet from this iconic race. Give it a go is my recommendation. Hopefully I will be back next year.
Thanks danger,
great report then and still is now. If it was hard for you :shit: it will be more than hard for me then. I haven't done more than 2hrs flat out for a while ( probably last GNCC). If I can ( other things don't get in the way) I will ahve a go at it. I;ll see if I can get the lad to do the tadpole as well and make a weekend of it.:Punk:

Fooo. Danger's excellent report hurt just to read about (Chop nearly spewing didn't help). Good to know that others suffer though. Can feel like everyone else is breezing along but often not the case. Will need every bit of fitness can lay a hand on for this so better get stuck in. Will be a good one to have under the belt.

very similar to gncc except half an hour longer plus the loop will be 25+ k's to lessen the course damage- also a lot less whoops than gncc but it is still woodhill....

Yes, but on the other side of the coin the shorter the track the more bikes go over it. End result it gets harder as the day goes on:Punk:

i like ruts and tree roots and even whoops, but i also like to wind out through the gears every so often too. changing from 2nd to 3rd then back to 2nd again gets a bit boring after a couple of hours.

I've got a leave pass to ride in this. Unfit is probably an understatement.
Bigger problem is the primary drive seal is well leaking. Automatic chain oiler in fact.
I'm away with work till Saturday so there is no time to replace it, so that means every pit stop its check the fuel and top up the oil.
Looking forward to the start though. I'd pay just to get a buzz at the start:woohoo:

awsome day the start was choice and I managed to get through most of the group some how and a good line up that first hill then a guy looped out on the second one and landed on the front of my bike was pretty funny though.
Thought somthing was wrong with my front end about halfway through the second lap was deflecting all over the show had a look after the third and turned out I also had a flat so got to spend some time spectating .
Great track and dont feel any way near as tired/sore as I did after the two man. Was cool haveing that big downhill from the twoman again and had a few good battles with a guy on a yz125 .

Was such an awesome ride.
Had a pretty good start, was as far right as you could go. I had the fence next to me haha. Ended up flying up on the outside of everyone. There was a huge pileup on the left of the gate, I managed to scoot through on the right lol. Was in the top 30 riders I think, lucky. That hill climb was gnarly where everyone got stuck lol.
First 2 laps were pretty good, was trying to pass people etc. Ended up coming behind Tony, followed him for a while then managed to roost him on one of the straights hahaha! :bleh: 2nd half of the race was where it got gay, came off about 6 times due to the rear slipping out, havnt changed the tyre for 40 hours lol! and my boot nearly fell off!
Had some awesome battles with a dude with red gear on a YZ125/250 and a guy on a YZF250/450, the whole race they wernt to far away. At this stage I had forgotten about Tony, with only about 3/4 of the lap to go. Feeling pretty knackered I wasnt really going for it. Came to about the last 500m and I heard a bike franticly revving behind me.. I thought it must have been Rory Mead doing his 10th lap or something haha, but turns out it was ktmboy!! He then blasted past me. Wasnt happy, then really put on the pace and was on his heels haha but he managed to beat me by about 2 seconds. You dog. Haha!
Ended up winning the Clubman class which I was pretty stoked about:first:, I thought clubman was the class inbetween expert and intermediate haha! My bad. I think I came 26th overall which im happy about, would have been the icing on the cake if I bet Tony! Until next time :P!
Big ups to the WMCC crew, had a really great time, everything was run perfect!
Would love to see some photos! There was a dude with a parked up bike taking some shots.
Sorry about my life story!

Got an absolutely shit start. 3 kicks to go. Damn.
There was one guy on a yamaha about 2k into the race and he exited stage right big time. The gully was freakin huge.
I think Vazza learn't a couple of tricks today. Being the suberb athlete than I am, "not" I had a serious case of cramps for a few laps. Chop told me that Vazza was ahead with two laps to go so decided to HTFU and go Vazza hunting. My last lap was my quickest as the cramps had disappated slightly.
Was funny as with only about 2-3 k to go I saw Vazza and managed to catch him. Getting past was easy, I just asked him to move out of the road and he did. God bless, some riders do have manners LOL.
Thanks Vin. I'll take that till next time.
That dude on the YZ125 was funny. He pitted every lap then was at your back door reving the shit out his bike 20 minutes later.
Bodies in no pain yet. That will come later.

What a race, I was way back at the start but squeezed past a few at the gate the passed a heap on the two hills - both hills I rode up the right side off the track and made it, then things didn't go so great, lost 6 places when could not start the bike after stalling on a downhill ( the one with a heap of drops off roots ), in the end did 4 laps and was well back in the field, slowed all the way to end.
Major ups to the wmcc was a great event.
Oh it was easier than last year and please no more encourgement for birchy to do another "easy" course like last year, I liked how tricky it was this year, the clear fell was heaps easier in the last loop, but tricky enough first time around.

Weird the flat tyre fairy paying a few visits. Guy I was talking to last light got a flat rear, changed it then got a slow leak on front & had to pump up each lap.

Haha, it was pretty funny on the second to last lap, I was about 20 metres away from the scanning area and I was trying to overtake a dude but it took me completely off track, outside of the fence. Geez that was embarassing, everyone saw it to!! I think billaroo laughed at me hahah
cheers cam! ^_^
