[QUOTE=NZKTM;1129329691]It is awesome, yes. When I went it was closed but at a pinch you could get around the gate,[QUOTE]

A couple of years ago I was going down that way with some mates & we thought we'd include a cruise up to Tukino, I called up the ph # on their website to ask about access & the guy said 'yep, no worries, I'll leave a key in my letterbox in Taupo...' So no need for Erzberg stylz to get around the gate. It's a neat ride on a sunny day.

Cheers
Clint

Not sure - 22 litre maybe? Too big to ever reach the bottom. Got it from Nordie. I've got the standard one back on at present as the colour clash didn't do it for me. Just keep the big one for serious tripping .

Yeah it's pretty good - surprisingly high up there (http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/album.php?albumid=512&pictureid=4842). There are a couple of dry creekbeds on the way down which are very good fun to sledge in - very loose scoria and crap. It's doc land, but I figure if it's good enough for a lahar to flow down, it's good enough to take the occasional tyre print. Nasty soil there - I think its acidic so wash yer bike down after riding west of the road.

Great, an infraction for using the functionality of this website - ie embedded pictures.

Takapari Road. Such a great spot, I may just have to go and have another look this weekend.

Got to love the Naki tunnel.

First is at the North End of the Awakino Gorge on SH3, being one way it is amazing to watch the big refrigerated trucks squeeze through.

Second is the Moki tunnel and the last is the Uruti tunnel (these two were both used on on the TTTTT ride last year).

That looks like fun

Believe it or not a Nissan Sunny and a Mk4 Cortina can pass in that tunnel going in opposite directions, and if the driver of the Cortina reads this Im very very sorry for scaring us both like that :shifty: I do of course deny all knowledge of said event, its just an urban legend
However back to tunnels, I have been told of the existance of a tunnel of the Waitangi Rd past the swingbridge. Found the bridge no trouble but the Rd forked on the other side so didnt want to upset farmers by riding around on the land. Can anyone shed anylight on this?

Yeah embedding is much better on ADVrider. You'd think you're doin them a favour by using a photo hosting site. I'm almost giving up on KB and will post my reports and stuff on advrider or www.offroadexplorer.com

ADV sucks big time though....IMO, after the issues they have fabricated like a good Hollywood thriller..
