Is it? dont see why, but when i went through the b.k drivethru on my bicycle i asked for my b.k chickenburger and got told the cops are coming and I ended up hiding on top of repco (in Tauranga) [crazy!]

would the same be for a motorcycle? dont see why you'd want to eat your burger while riding but you might want to.. somehow?

I've gone through the drive thru on my bike plenty of times, never had an issue yet, don't see why they'd threaten that the police were on the way. Are you particularly shifty looking?

You can walk through the drive thru if you really want.. that's been done many times before without any issues besides the occasional snigger...

Me and my mate went through the McDonalds drive thru on our pushbikes and they told us to go into the shop if we want anything. My mate works at another McDonalds and he asked his boss why pushbikes aren't allowed in the drive thru. Something to do with safety and ACC or some bullshit like that.

Well, some branches state that they're open 24 hours while really it's only the drive thru that is, as far as I know all McDonalds indoors bit close at 12am. After that, they're not exactly going to turn down a sale..

Though that mention of the safety thing makes sense...

Interesting topic as I usually get the munchies after a nice long ride.

I've tried the pushbike and walking through scenarios and they didn't work - but a motorcycle I have yet to try!

Pretty sure all the local ones refuse to serve anyone on foot or bicycle, Though I'd imagine you would need to argue the point for them to involve the police.

As for a motorbike?

Never tried, It would be about a billion times easier to crab a park and walk in.

I know of no law that says it is illegal to ride through a drive through. However it is private property, and as such if they tell you to piss off you have to, otherwise you could be charged with trespass.

I would guess you pissed them off pretty bad if they called the cops on you.

IIRC, it's something to do with OSH - if you're wandering around and get hit by a car, they'll get hammered.

Wendy's in Lynfield has a sign saying they will refuse to serve people on foot.

Err I'm pretty sure that places which close the restaurant but the drive through open will accept people on foot.
I may have imagined it though.

Not illegal, but whether you get served or not depends on the mood of the employee serving you.

Drunk people walk through all the time, plenty of people have ridden through (I've yet to try it though :soon:)

In fact I know of one KBer, who I shall not name, who has been through in a shopping trolley in one incident...

uh....That would be stupid and pointless, and possibly dangerous.

Apart from that, Its a great suggestion.

Interesting, I supose they have banned cars from entering the restaurant on the same basis:shutup:

They must struggle with the car park, Maybe they could ban people from exiting their cars.

Ha ha! My sister used to go through the Glen Innes Mc Donalds Drive though on her HORSE! She never had any trouble.

Mind you, that might say more about the inhabitants of Glen Innes than anything else....

Years ago me and some mates went to McDonalds. One of my mates walked through the drive through holding a McDonalds VIP sticker, ordered a cheeseburger with a free VIP coke - the girl serving him told him to move up to the next window and don't stall it.

You could only get one free drink with the VIP sticker, we usually just did 4 or 5 laps so we could each get a cheeseburger for 95c and get a free drink with it.

Very funny.

Haven't heard anything like it.

I suggest you go back again and see who told you they'd call the Police.

Maybe it's an old flame who thinks you are a shagnasty?

Call manager, demand a free "feed" for you and your mates or tell them you're gonna tell the local newspaper about their police threat.

Managers of BK/McDonalds/KFC generally tend to be jumped up little arseholes.

Opera doesn't like KB. Just when I thought it was better than firefox...

Shortened version of my previous reply...

Illegal for pushbikes or pedestrians or sommat.

Bag of food down jacket, drink in hand of tank lid till coast/idle to carpark

Don't go back to a retarded asshole-in-your-face drive through restaurant again.

ive done it spending a good night otherwise occupied and feeling peckish. also when finishing a late shift and being too buggered to waste time walking in, lol. never had any questions, though i did feel bad by taking up time stuffing my burger and chips into the tank bag, putting gloves etc back on, wallet away yada yada. also, thank god for open face lids... i think they would find you hard to understand otherwise.

If I had to guess? There's a reasonable expectation that people will be wandering round a gas station, but not that they will be walking round a drive-thru.

That being said, I've seen the Wendy's in Lynfield serve pedestrians at the drive-thru.

Done the drive through thing on the bike often. If you park the bike and walk upto the window they usually don't serve you. They've told me it's policy and a staff safety issue. I guess you can yank the person out the window or jump in. Who knows. So motorbike and car are fine. On foot ain't. Of course as soon as I've paid I wander up to the carpark and park then walk across to the window and collect my food.

It's tough trying to get food at midnight or 2am in the morning.

The problem is that they fuck you at the drive through!

Damn there goes my 'wallking through the drive thru making engine sounds' story.

Last summer I had the young fella on the back on a Napier-Gisborne-South Auckland run. We were coming up to 600ks which a lot in a day for a young one so before 10pm I rolled into a Waikato McDs for a treat. They had gone over to drive thru only early. They would not serve us on the bike so I parked in the drive thru lane and walked to the window.

I asked the serving girl to pretend I was a car and made broom broom noises until she cracked a smile. We got way more food than we paid for. Me and my son sat in a park under the stars munching our feed.
