Ok with nothing better to do and riding my motoring vehicle the other day I had a thought...

Race slicks can go through x number of heat cycles before they start getting buggered and don't grip no more... and tyre warmers help with this.

But how many heat cycles can a set of road tyres do before they start giving up the ghost???

I mean some of you might say they never get up to temperature on the road etc etc etc...

But when it's like a couple degrees outside and I jump off the bike and then put my hands on my tyres to warm them up that is a decent heat cycle.

Just was curious as it seems I am having to wait longer before getting some *cough cough* decent traction.

there is a huge variation different brands/models can be different, can depend on how are riden, time of year, etc. there is no magic number really.

I know back in 05 on my front PP was dead by 11,000kms pressures were fine, still plenty of tread, but had just gone off. put another front on and was good as new again.

Where the conti race attacks i got on track rims have done 1 race(600), and i have done about 3 track days on them now, and still going good.

yeh just got some pilot sports and although the back seems fine it looses grip under ummmm lets just say hard acceleration.

First time i've been on long life tyres, used to getting down to the belts and still having grip on the ex racies (supercorsa's racetechs etc etc) so a little weary...

If she is ovulating there are better ways to tell.
