2004 Hayabusa.
I am running a 4into1 Yoshi carbon tri oval and am about to get a K&N Filter fitted.
Do I need to do anything else, the mechanic says no.
Has anybody (specifically Bus owners) done the same and had any problems.

you best get it tuned for the mods via a pc3, or teka tune
has it got the TRE mod?

Get a TRE, it does wonders for the round town lurching that bike has. -> what is a TRE, well suzuki limit the HP, in 1-2-3 under 50% throttle, what a TRE does is tell the bike its in 5th gear the whole time, so you get the limiter removed, it really helps with the 1-2-3 low rpm stuff around town, work wonders on fathers in laws 04 hayabusa. The other side effect of this it will remove the speed limiter in 6th, since the speed limiter when bike is in 6th gear and a certian rpm, so since bike thinks its in 5th all the time, no speed limiter.
Bike will go okay with air filter & pipe, but honstly get a teka tune (thats remaping your stock ecu, so that means no need to buy a piggy back unit) triplezdyno in auckland do this, it will make a different to bike make it smother and get the most out of the exhaust.

Thanks Cajun
I just rang the mechanic to query the mod.
He stated that in the workshop they have a Yoshi exhaust tool that will correct/fix any problems with it.
I mentioned to him about the TRE and he said I wouldnt need it modified?
I will wait and see, its booked in for Tues next week.

Just a thought...
Does remapping your ECU (teka tune) not make the TRE redundant? Or do you only remap the 5th gear maps?

Remapping the ECU only affects the fuel/air mixture, not ignition timing.
The TRE stops the factory imposed timing retardation in the lower gears and gets rid of the rev limiter. It made a huge difference to my 109 around town.
Value for money-wise, it's one of the best mods you'll ever do.
There's a lot of sites in the US that sell them, around $40US, and they are real simple to install.
Get the filter and pipes done, you'll soon know if you need to get a teka or pcIII from the bike's performance.

The EMU on most modern bikes should figure out what's going on and make the necessary adjustments. The EMU on my FJR1300 figured out that there was a DNA filter on one end and TBRs on the other.

Nope not at all, fitted an ATRE years ago and have remapped my ECU many times with my Yosh box, modified airbox, filter etc.TLs have the horrible stumbles round town also.Fwiw theres 2 types of TRE,auto or smart is the way to go,automatically switches off in neutral for a more consistant idle.

yeah great idea helps the engine breath more but if its only a minor prob with a carb bike/scoot as some light carb tuning may be in order:scooter:
