Hi there

Who's recently got the best tyre deal in Auckland of late?

Need new hoops for the R1 (front and rear) and have narrowed it down to the
Diablo Strada
Pilot Road 2

Post in the best deal you've got from where within say the last 3 weeks.

Also post what pressure you are running in the either the PR2 or the Strada

Cheers

Ok, not exactly what you asked fo (http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/showthread.php?t=103772)r, but a wicked deal on a wicked tyre none the less. If I didn't have 2 rears and a front sitting in the spare room I'd get another couple.

Pick up the phone in one hand and place the yellow pages in the other.

Ring places like Haldanes, Treads etc.

Nothing better than getting an answer from the horses mouth, which would/could include whatever specials going and any direct advice on your riding and bike.

For anyone who cares

Drury Performance Centre had the best deal ($540 fitted)
Cycle Treads next best ($579 fitted)

R1 is now shod in a pair of Pirelli Diablo Stradas and they feel great.

Sportbike tyres are way way way too expensive. You'd think with the numbers that 120/70 and 180/55 sell in worldwide that they'd be alot cheaper than a less popular sized tyre. I suppose alot of it has to do with fashion as alot of riders wouldn't be seen dead with last years pattern on their bike. What would their mates say? "Oh you've only got the 08 demonroad 2 1/2? I've got the 09 pilablo and it gives me a second a lap advantage around the coro loop!! And it'll last 2500km

One of the reasons I sold my sportbike. Way too expensive to run.

No actually, I suspect it has more to do with how you're putting down over 130HP to the ground with a modern 1000cc sports bike.

Go look at the prices for a pair of Metzeler Tourance EXP's on my GS! Hideously expensive.

I got 13k out of a tourance on the rear of my BMW so if you take that into account then they are a lot better value. That wasn't an EXP though.

For you CBR250RR I think some cheaper tyres would do the job. Something like Bridgestone BT45's.

I don't think you should look at tyres designed for bigger bikes.
