No Night Train for 2010

Nightrain wasn't selling well. I got a better trade-in offer against one than against the Fat Bob I bought.

I'd like to know if the rake on that Wide Glide is achieved through the trees or the frame. If it's the trees I'll be havin' a set.

Also, slight gear ratio changes on the Dyna for 2010. I thought it was too tall here and there and maybe I wasn't the only one.

Did you find the fatbob handled better than the night train? Would you buy one again having now ridden/owned one for awhile? I'm looking to move up to a big block nearer the end of the year. TIA

I think it's accepted that the Dyna bikes handle better than the Softail (esp. given that the Softail now have a 200 section rear tyre). That said, this is Harley we're talking about so it's all relative. Handling isn't the reason I'd choose on big block over another. I'd just pick the one I like the look of.

Mind you, as good as the Softails look I don't like the 'B' motor in the range (whrrrrrrr whrrrrrr - f'kin' balancers....) and think the 'A' motor is much more 'Harley' as a result of not having them - and who wants unnecessary parts spinning around in a motor anyway? Just personal taste I suppose and that's what I'd base my choice on.

Even mates of mine who have used the long legged bikes overseas say even on long stretches the top cog was too tall. Waste of space here.

the softail stanadrd seems to have disappeared from some or all markets as well

harley is deleting as many of the base models as possible and concentrating on more value added (read expensive & more profitable) models

HD are in the shit, soon as they bought out MV their problems started. Italians motorcycles do that . What they paid for MV was a drop in the bucket to HD. Their problem is that 80% of their sales are domestic and that market is in recession. They'll be fine though. Solid company with a loyal customer base.

And the sixth gear is way too tall for NZ. Looking to change my primary drive front sprocket in order to swap some top end for pick-up.

Baker Drivetrain do a kit including a shorter chain but I'm not sure if it'll be the right one for my bike. Got to beat farting around with a smaller front pulley.
