I'm not sitting in the Qantas Lounge in Sydney, 1 1/2 hrs into my 8 hr stopover before carrying on to Singapore. I fly out at 3.50pm Aussie time. Freeflow food and drinks, wifi, comfy seats showers etc... I could get used to this...
Just had my 3rd breakfast for the morning... 1st at Wgtn airport, 2nd on plane, and 3rd just now...
My question is... what time can I pour myself my first drink without looking like a complete noob? Bearing in mind it's hardly 9am in Sydney now...

2 wallabies (Aussie rugby players) were in here just before signing autographs... Dunno what their names were, something Brown and someone else... Just looked up the team list and still don't know who they were... I'll call them scarface and mute...
Fired the first psyops shot for the ABs when I told scarface he looked terrible and should think about a new day job...
If we win the next match, whenever it is, I had a part to play in it.
Just wanted to put it out there... ;P
Can you tell I'm bored already? Time for my first beer, methinks...

If it's free anytime is a good time!
As for the drunken pilots that is the Wellington airport on a good day.

Too right!
Flew business class to/from Seedneeee last weekend. Was OK going there, but coming back the plane was really late. So, we had a fair bit of time to kill in the lounge - soime lunch and a couple of double bourbons helped with that. Then on the plane, it was champagne before the plane took off, then red wine with dinner, then dessert wine, then coffee, then port with cheese. Problem was, because the plane was so late, and so lightly loaded, the flight was very fast (2 hours summat, instead of 3 and a quarter). So, the drinks were piling up a bit - had three on my tray several times. Wife wasn't feeling too good (different problem), so I didn't dare suggest that I wasn't sure if I could drive from the airport.
Got home OK, no incidents - apart from being told off for leaving her at the x-ray machine, where they nearly gave our duty free to someone else because I forgot we had an overnight bag AND a yellow plastic one.

IMO and IME - If you are flying long haul, there are no clocks and you can drink anytime you like.
I used to do morning flights into Amsterdam and some of the idiots were drinking the complementary Champagne with breakfast, before meetings. Now that really is B A D.

Whenever you feel thirsty..
Used to regularly crack open a Guiness at 6.30 am.....after a 12hr night shift in the tropics....
When the thirst/mood dictates

On my regular redeye flight from Darwin to Sydney, the thought of a drink is all that keeps me going. Landing at 6am-ish, you better not get between me and the bar. Unless you wanna get wet it might pay to give me a bit of room too, my hands usually aren't too steady.
Whoever coined that phrase about the romance of travel can go and get fucked.
