Bugger! But as you said in the initial posts it's amazing how little damage happened to the bike itself.

Hope you can sort everything out soon.

It always looks aweful after a fire....
(neighbours house went up, was a shocking mess afterwards after the firecrew had put it out - after keeping the hotspots out.)

I cant believe how your bike stood up to all the flames in the garage.
If they write your bike off. Buy it back at auction for $200 and you will have so many parts for another bike... or you could re do it up.

I see your paint containers never got melted...

I hope the assessors decide to write everything off at todays market prices and that you can replace everything.

All the best.

Scary sight....I remember when our house went up a few years ago I looked down the hallway towards the kitchen.....pitch black above waist height...clear as day below.

Feel for ya mate....good luck:niceone:

Made me smile seeing the fire fighting equipment by the garage....garden hose :Punk:

Forks are good.
Wheels are good.
Brakes are good.
Motor is good.

However:

All the plastics have melted over the bike. The airbox has melted into the carb mouths.

All the instruments have melted.

The seat base has melted over the battery, ignitor, fuel pump and alternator.

The back fender has melted.

The wiring loom has melted in places.

The frame has dulled and gone brittle at the top near the tank.

The tank has buckled from the heat. Still has 3/4 of a tank usable petrol, maybe.

How much do you wanna pay? Ring AMI Upper Hutt...

Its like a horribly disturbing souveneir. at least if your with a good company (fingers crossed its AAI) youll at least get that all replaced with better stuff :P

Actually, it's just the bike that's with AMI.

Everything else is with Vero. GAB-Robins is handling the claim.

AMI have Maidstone Yamaha doing a PAV on the bike as we speak and will pay either the PAV or amount insured (less excess of $300), whichever is the lesser.

edit: Just heard on the phone from Gini that Vero have accepted the claim and everything in the garage will be COMPLETELY replaced. Hopefully witth $$$ rather than just replacing, so I can choose exactly what stuff to replace and maybe save some $$$ to be spent on motorcycles.

Embassy Flooring come on Monday morning and will strip the garage, take full inventory of everything, and throw all the stuff we don't want on a skip, tear down the gargre and start the rebuild.

It's all on!

Thats some good news fella. Still thinking gixxer?

Currently tossing up between a GSX-R750 (1990), GSX750F and FZR1000.

All depends on how much Mac at Maidstone's reckons my fizzer WAS worth.

Otherwise I could be looking at a beat up GN125.

ahh vero, thats not too bad. I still work quite closely with them. mind If I ask your assesors name, Is he from welly or one of the hutts' (not jabba I hope)

as a rule of thumb they will avoid paying out cash over replacing. you would be hard up trying to get them to do so unless your really freindly (flirty?) with your claims handler and the assesor. Ussually gab will try and recomend the claim be cash settled on some items (like clothing and small items) and replace stuff like pushbikes and bigger tools via Purchase order to bike barn (pack-n-pedal) and mitre 10 whoever you prefer (ussually)

but unfortuantly your policy will specify that its the insurance companies decision how it is settled. if you want you can PM me the claim number and I will try and pull some stings for you :p

most likely Gab will prepare a schedule of loss (list of damaged goodies) and show you how it will be replaced on there.

dont forget there isnt a clause that says you cant sell things you get replaced. its just not 'smiled upon'

also from the looks of the amount of stuff, dont hold your breath waiting for it all. from claim acceptance you can still be waiting two weeks or so.

hope it goes well for you dude!

edit: is it geni or jenny? jenny is the loss adjuster admin
edit2: with the stuff you _do_ want. you should know that as a rule of thumb everything replaced or paid out on now belongs to vero and unless its absolutley rooted and has a zero value its tricky to get it. sometimes you can make special arrangement thou

Hey Lilmsrocker. Welcome to KB.

It sure sucks...

I won't get a NEW bike. I will get another one. But depending on what the local bike shop reckons the bike was worth pre-fire and if I can get any cash settlement for some of the stuff in the gargre it might or might not be better than what I had before.

From my experience with insurance companies I would say it's probably going to be a step down in bike.

What the hell. It's gotta be better than the train, or god forbid, a cage.

Sorry to see the FZR in such a state

Whats going to happen to it? Will you be trying to get it working, maybe as a race bike?

It's gone mate. Totara Park Panelbeaters picked it up today. Maidstone Yamaha will be doing a Pre-Accident Valuation on it on Monday and AMI will pay me either $4000 or what Maidstone reckon it was worth Pre-Accident (less my $300 excess) and I will try and get a few more bucks together and buy another bike...
