Afternoon gents, finally put the 15/43 sprockets on this morning, just of interest there is plenty of adjustment for running these or 14/41 with the same chain, as in no extra links / length needed.

So for general use I am running 15/43 which is 2.86 gearing for the road and general use, marginally lower that stock at 2.73, if we are doing a bit more hilly stuff or a lot more off road or slower tracks then I will bang on the 14 T to 14/43 which is 3.07 so significantly lower.

On my for sale list now,

48T 520
14T 520

41T 525

Off for a ride to Raspberry Flat near Mt Aspiring, 51 km from home is road end etc after a few creek crossings and puddles :Punk:

But faxing is soooo slow!

I will go down stairs and get the flux capacitor out and charge up the teramadneium batteries so we can teleport it through time, I will wind the time line back a bit till just after it was bought then it will come prefitted as well, new technology mate ... gotta keep up with the times!!

One small issue .. it will enter your lounge at exactly 88mphr .. is your lounge long enough cos I don't wonna damage your wall paper!! :done:

Fek all difference, only 5% reduction, did it mainly for less chain torture and for when slower riding is needed I can drop the gearing substantially and easily.

I run 15/43 most of the time. I have the 14 on standby for the tricky stuff but can't remember the last time I actually bothered to change it. Could have been on the last Capital Coast Adventure... April 2008.

For the stuff today 1st was too low and 2nd too high.
I'd have liked to drop a tooth on the front (14/44) and bring 2nd into play a bit more.

Actually, 47/14 would have been greatly appreciated :D

Today was the first time I've really felt the weight of the bike holding me back from where I wanted to be.

lol, and I suspect you were on hills that I'd rather be using my CRF on.

By the time you get to that size you'll have had to mod the rear chain guide.
I think Nordies Newby thread has that info buried in it somewhere.

Yeap, when I got my bike it was setup with14/48, no bottom guide on just the sides only.

Great for tight trails for which the bike is not designed for but on a farm or purely offroad it would be good.
