So I might never be an umbrella girl or a biker model due to my additions from my pregnancies.
I could sport biker gear in magazines, or be in the local warehouse catalogue, maybe even become a weather girl....
But should I pay $350 to do a modelling course and become a model?
I've been offered help with my portfolio ...
Anyone been a model before?
Do I have to be a ditsy blonde to become one?

Is this a transparent fishing exercise to find out whether we think you're hot or not?
<_<
Or are you asking for advice as to the goodness of modelling as a career?
I reckon it'd be a bit of a crap job. You'd have to work with a bunch of annoying, self-obsessed, overly-precious tarts and gits.
And you'd have to grab as much money as you could within several years, before you didn't fit any clients' profiles anymore due to being old and stuff, after which, well, what do you do then?
But mebbe the pay and easy hours would make up for all that, I dunno...
If you can get decent gigs, it's probably the perfect job to have while studying. Be worth a shot.

We've several models who've worked here, and at the moment there's two.
Damned skinny things they are - no meat on em at all. Not like real women...
Ditzy? No.
Both of them are analyst/programmers, and one has two uni degrees, the latest with A+ passes.
But I still don't reckon her....

Straight up.
Go to any Suzuki dealer and ask for a GSX250 brochure. Who the hell else could they find with such stunning dress sense?

*sigh* :(
Just as I posted this thread, I thought some people might take it the wrong way.
No I'm not fishing. I think I look average and noone can tell me different. But I have had an offer for some help, I have had people come up to me in the street and I have been given cards (wish I kept them now).
So I thought, what the hell, could be fun. Looks like it'd be expensive tho. Just wondering if it would be worth it tho. Most of the times I've modelled, it's been voluntary for friends.
I know this sounds all like do you think I'm pretty, look at me look at me, but it's not. I seriously want to know how much cost it's going to be for a try. I think it'd be cool to be sprawled over the latest R1 :D
...
I'd have to grow my hair and do a bit of yoga first tho

In appropriate attire, naturally.
I'm sure there are generously-minded R1 owners on the forum who would donate their bike and time to such a noble cause.

No disrespect, but the way you became a model is not really the same thing I'm asking for. They wanted pictures of a bike and someone actually riding it. The hot chicks you get photo'd with are the kind I'm talking about. Ask one of them next time :)

Slipstream......
Now having meet you in person just recently...
Yep, you have the face, the height and figure to be a model.
You will need a portfolio - pics of you in different clothes and different backgrounds.
You will have to pay for the pics to be taken - get them done by a very professional photographer.
You will need to find out which is the best model agency to deal with.
But you don't pay the agency upfront.
When they get you work, you will pay them a bit of commission.
It is a hard life to get into. Early nights and living the clean life.
As to your length of hair.... chat to the agency about that, as you may notice that some well known models have short hair. So it may not make much difference.
Model work comes in all sorts of form and different stuff.
IE: the warehouse brochure, bike mags, modeling shoes, hand modeling (yep sometimes the pic is only of the hands) leg modelling (same thing)
Swimsiut modelling (bikini and full swimsuit) modelling clothes for differnt shops.
I say if you are up to the long hours of sitting around and having early nights, then go for it. The model agencies will be up froint with you and tell you with you have it or not.
The top modelling agency in NZ is the Ford agency but they are hard to get hold of them.
All the best... and yep I am taking your question very seriously indeed.

Nah, get a portfolio and get it out there (wherever you want 'there' to be)
A couple of girls (and one guy) I have worked with have had a bit of modelling work.. as much as they wanted really, but most decided they didn't really want to do much of it and lost interest.
Having a portfolio would be really col to loook back on in 50 years time

Crashe: I have early nights anyway and _try_ to be healthy due to the kids. ;)
M/D: Yes my bike and licence are priorities, but this is why I'm asking about whether I should bother or not.
Do I risk this money on model training first and maybe get more money because of it, or do I hold it off for longer and maybe lose my looks while paying off a bike?
Yet again, thanks for the help I'll let you guys know if I become one ... And no, I won't be posing for playboy.... unless I get the centrefold :msn-wink: (lotsa bling) j/k

Anyways i reckon go for it! Grow your hair though too!
Always have a backup plan though, so like, if it doesnt work out perfectly at least you could always post pics up on here and get a load of married, deprived, old bikers[read: good judges:lol: ] postin comments on how hot you are which if it were me would be enough of an ego boost yeah?

It's the way they make most of their money. You pay for the course in the hope that they will give you work when completed. Works for some, not many.
Thing here Slip, is take a look at the models out there in the add world that look like you. If you see a market for yourself then take a punt. Not wnting to put you off, but most are young'uns and many of them fall by the wayside.
On the upside of this these modeling courses can be a big help just for personal grooming and general deportment, but then a night class at the local High Scool will be a lot cheaper. Have fun either way.
