So... I had a little spill today going around a roundabout. Surface was fine, I just overcooked it a wee bit. Anyway I used countersteering to push the bike over a bit more, and all of a sudden the front comes out and I go over. I can see where the road grazed the front tyre sidewall as it slipped out.
The current tyres are non-matching chinese ones (read is Barracuda, front is Kingroad). Anyway it's time to give the GB250 some new tyres that will give me a bit more confidence in the sort of situation that I faced this morning.
(And yes, I realise that overcooking the corner was my poor judgement.)
My tyre sizes are 110/90-18 rear and 90/90-18 front. Looking on the cycletreads website the only two that fit both my wheels are the Bridgestone BT45 and the Dunlop GT501. However if I went with a 100/90-18 (slightly wider) front tyre, I could instead get some Michelin Pilot Activ's, or even Pirelli sport demons.
Would it be worth getting a slightly wider front tyre to get a set of these sportier tyres? Any other tyre suggestions?
