Andrew Stroud 2 or 4 Wheels?

With numerous two-wheel titles under his belt, NZ motorcycle champion Andrew Stroud is considering a switch to a NZV8. After a successful test session at Powerbuilt International Raceway late last week Stroud sees that it may be time to have some more protection around him.

“I’m 41 and I have seven kids so I suppose the time is coming when I have to give up bike racing,’’ Stroud said.

The biggest surprise for Stroud was in the ability of the V8 Commodore to brake harder than his bike. The difference being that braking on the motorcycle is limited by the tendency of the rear wheel to lift under hard braking.

“The Commodore is more of a race car than I imagined and I would certainly be keen to look around at any options that might be available to race cars next season,’’ he concluded.

Doesn't he have a brother that races open wheelers or touring cars in one of the NZ classes?

And beyond the safety, will he earn more?

If he decides to go that way I hope he continues his winning ways and it provides him with an extended alternative career path.

Stroud not on the starting line on a motorcycle? Hard to imagine. He's been there so long.
