Hey guys, anyone know what consumer rights I would have in regards to my bike once again not starting after having been to the mechanics for that very reason. Last week I paid quite a handsome fee to the mechanic to get my bike to start again, and then this morning it once again refused to start. Is the mechanic by law obligated to get the bike going again at no further cost to myself, as that is what I paid them for a week ago?

Hell yeah, if you pay for something to fixed and the problem still persists, take it back, they wont get pissed with ya, they have missed the obvious.

Yep, as Maha said no need to go all "rights" on them, ring up tell them the issue and book it in.

Mechanics aren't gods. They have a go and see what they can find, and they don't always get it right first time.
I ask for a concise description of their interpretation of the problem, and ask them what they did or will do about it. Many times I have had a disagreement with them about the proposed solution, and many times I have been right, but since they did it their way they paid for it themselves.
So get involved and put your own grey matter to work on the problem. If they won't discuss it with you, then go elsewhere.

The consumer guarantees act states that services must be provided 'with reasonable skill and care' so if you've paid for something and they still haven't fixed it then keep going back till its fixed.
