im doing it hard lately.
ive given up rugby this year to try and get some time for riding.
i started playing when i was 4 and have never missed a season for 23 years.
its hard seeing the boys going to play and on a sat night or sunday they talk about it and i dont feel part of it.
but on the plus side i can go riding...
any one else given somthing up they hold dear for riding more?

I've got 4 - I've forgotten how the hell it happened.
I've given up riding for a few short summer months to do up a run down house...but I've bought another bike which is something to look forward to...

Is there a clever mathmetician here who can post the formula describing the relationship of kids/years married/amount-chances of nooky? I just know that the answer is not 42.

You have a bike. What more do you want ? Besides money is the work of the devil, so therefore, by your bike making you get rid of the stuff, it is preventing you from the evil influences of too much money. So bike are good, and are just looking out for your wellbeing.
PS There are of course, exceptions ie Ramius's GSX250 suicidal hell beast

Give up things all the time.
Just a fact of being eternaly broke.
Never for good of course, but things do tend to go on the back burner while I concertrate on what ever the latest craze is.
Every thing has taken a back seat to saving the money to buy another house over the last year or so.
My rifles havn't been looked at in twelve months, the bows have only been shot in the back yard, the fishing gear is looking real sad an the bike only get's ridden on the occasional weekend.
Giving things up for a while is just part of the flow for me,it always comes back around but.

Hence why I don't have any kids
I've given up my extensive social life (aka: drinking), as well as collecting shoes & handbags to got to Uni so I can have the career I want. Mind you I got my bike after I started Uni and that I'll never give up now!

We gave up bikes to have kids (3).
Now that we have only one at home, we are back on our bikes.
Then the kids have kids - called grandchildren. Do we give up our bikes? Hell, no. Mix the two. Went shopping for bike gear the other day. Took our 20 month old grandson along. He called every bike in the shop a m'bike. He put his sticky little fingers on all the shiney bits such as mufflers and mirrors. He put his fat little cherub fingers in the exhaust pipes, saying "hot" because that is what he is familiar with. Hot mufflers that is.
By the way, life does get "hot" again, after babies.

And the answer is 40, the magic age to join Ulysses!

Why is that?
Somebody wants to buy it.

At some stage I'm going to have to give up buying boots to continue feeding my motorbiking habit - and when do I really get the opportunity to wear these boots? - I'm either working, or riding round the country, and it's just so hard trying to fit boots into a backpack with all the other necessities like clothes and stuff.
