Honda CBR250RR brake rotors?

Hey guys,

Long time since I've been here.

Dad scored himself a '90 MC22 with 30,000km, dropped on the left hand side at 60km/h. Engine runs great, just cosmetic damage pretty much. Negociated the guy from $2600 to $2000. Great buy. Now, we've got the bike home and measured up the brake rotors with the verniers... call the waaambulance, it's under the recommended 3.5mm thickness. Measures in at 3.36.

If anybody remembers me, you'll know that I'm a cheapo. Heck, most of us are.

The price for new MetalGear brake rotors is $660, we're not prepared to spend that again. Does anybody know anywhere that would sell cheap brake rotors? I don't mind if they're second hand, just over the 3.5mm mark.

Talk to george the MC doctor, he gets parts in pretty darn cheap. Also the metalgear parts aren't the greatest - their brake pads aren't even really road legal here (but who doing a wof will ever open up the brake calipers?)

Brand new $360 NZ dollars with freight.freight showed $49usd on my account to New Zealand. 220usd total equals $350 NZ at the moment approx

Don't know if it matters, but they don't look much like the rotors on my mc22?won't the calipers sit funny on something like that? *shrug* plus they're imported from Hong Kong...and I've heard crap things about the fairings imported from there (nothing about brake discs though..)

they are after market replacment wave style direct bolt on.Top quality discs like ebc will cost $800 imported or $1000+ from a local bike shop.
With a little 250cc bike with twin disc these would work well and be a safer bet than 2nd hand discs.
The problem with 2nd hand is that even measured at over 3.5mm that wont guarentee they wont be wharped etc.

Your options are cheep new ,cheep 2nd hand or expensive new.

Cheap central asia discs... wouldn't piss on them if they were on fire.

Steven, if you can't afford to run a motorcycle correctly, then you should wait till you can.

Plenty of things can be done for fuck all dollars these days, but the brakes on a (relatively) high performance motorcycle aren't one of them. They're somewhat rich boys toys, if you don't fit in that group, find another hobby.
