Been reading about more rumours on updating the Daytona, well, more updating the big Tona eg, 955 version to this pic, which keeps getting put out about the place.
I wish Triumph would just do it and stop all the guessing cos I'd be one of the first in queue.:Punk:

I am taller than you so I could push my way to the front...
Cant see a pic, but looked through the gallery at all those lovely Sprints and Tona's.

I've heard people mention making a Daytona from the 1050cc from the Speed Triple.

I like the sharp angles, like my D600.

But that's just my personal taste.

Also I have no idea who made that image or when, been around for a little while.

I heard Vetter offered to design one for Hinckley and they declined.

If Kawasaki lopped a cylinder off a ZX14 would you buy one? Still be making 142.5hp.. :devil2:

Good question there. Kawasaki could claim homage to the triples of years gone by.

Yammy ran 4 stroke triples too in the 80's so they could make some.

Nice sounding motors that's for sure.

No, as it would effectively be an overweight 955i!

Triumph's marketing has been very clever upto now by not competing directly in the toughest classes.

But now expectations are high and they may start to lose out on sales because of the long wait.

Apparently it won't be a 1050, but a new engine instead?

Yeah I read somewhere that the 1050 is'nt that great or able to extract the hp, approx 180 out of like the equivalent Jap litres.
Thats according to Triumph engineers.
But I imagine someone in the world would of dispelled that.

The other thing I heard was that the 675 unit can safely move the red line up by 4k AND that's therefore the engine to base the new unit upon.

A Triumph Daytona 875 wouldn't be a surprise.

Last time I spoke to anyone senior from the factory they were keen to stick to 'niche' configurations.

That was before a few years of success with the 675 though.
