 $200 is going to be harder to sell the Finance Manager on. Still probably cheaper than the extra petrol to go all the way to Taupo for a track day.

With the hills and awesome corners it will be worth the extra hundred bucks over Taupo.:Punk:

It would appear not. See the racing forum - there is a thread on it.

Couple of hills and a few corners for $200!!!:shit: Plus the cost of getting there and the petrol for the day....not to mention there won't be power there for the first lots of track time, so you've gotta bring generators as well....

Hampton Downs is off my list - my bank balance will only allow Puke or Taupo!

we have a generator that would supply about 5 sets of tyre warmers pretty if you come down

Costs me a lot more than the $80 difference in price to get down to Taupo. Even if I ride it's about $40 in gas, a day of leave (unless I ride down at night), and the accomodation costs.

If I trailer the bike down with someone else it's at least $60 for gas each.

So while $200/day is scary expensive I think it's actually going to save me money.

Works out cheaper for me too. Fucked if i'll use that goat track at Pukekohe.

These other tracks just dont compare. $200 is good price for a quality track. You can already see that in the preparation.

No power? WAAAAAHHHH, you cant have been around when they upgraded Taupo! Same deal. Been there, done that!

Yeah this is a good point. They have the track hirage fees on the website and they are pretty much double what you hire Puke or Taupo for.

I love the Taupo track, patches and all , but the layout and elevation changes and fresh, smooth tar seal makes Hampton Downs a must do in my book. I reckon $200 is reasonable. And I aim to be one of the first to ride it!

I can't believe you jaffa's are complaining!!! :bleh:

Yeah I reckon there will be heaps of entries though (initially at least) cos everyone will be keen as to have a crack so this my offset the price a bit. The Nationals round there has been shaved from 3 to 2 days also, I assume to keep the entry cost down a bit.

There isn't much difference at all between the Taupo full track hire and the HD full track hire... Certainly not double.

I really want to see racing there so I hope the bike clubs get their shit sorted and find a way to get their hands on the cash without screwing the racers so we can watch it there.

Yeah it'll be interesting once the novalty on a new track wears off to see if people are still happy to pay the huge prices.

$200 for a new 3.8km 9 corner track sounds like a reasonable fee to me.

It will cost me less to ride there than to go to the south island tracks for some nice flowing corners!

I just wished I lived closer to it.

If the track is as good everyone is saying it's gunna be then hopefully the novelty doesn't wear off:Punk:

Thats right. As been discussed before we dont know how lucky we are to have such cheap track days. Plus HD Ride Days will have a few little extra's to add to the value.

Looking forward to it.

Trackdays here are cheap (compared to the UK, which is all I have to compare it too).
How is it that no-one complains about spending $500-$600 on a set of tyres but $200 for a trackday is HUGE amount of money?
I hope HD is as good to ride as it looks like its gonna be. I think its fantastic to have a world class track on the doorstep of Auckland at last and $200 is totally reasonable, I can't wait. And good for AMCC - holding their National round there, surely thats giving people what they want.

tracktime will be the decider for me. For $200 I will want the sessions promised and will want 5x 20mins min...

None of this limit to 120 plus mates of mates till we have 200 riders there.

Yeah this is a good point. They have the track hirage fees on the website and they are pretty much double what you hire Puke or Taupo for.

What you are failing to realise is that Pukekohe and Taupo, and even Manfield are 'cheap' trackdays. People in the UK and Australia are usually paying ATLEAST double what we do for similar and sometimes, worse tracks for the day - not to mention the crappy weather they get in the UK.

The hireage fees that I've seen for Hampton downs seem very reasonable - a full weekday on the 2.8km track (which isn't too bad) is $3700... with 50 people that's less than $80 before taking a profit - for an extra $20 per person you have $1000 to pay for ambulance attendance and a bit of incentive for marshalls - assuming they aren't provided.

Even the full international track on a weekend, shared between 80 people is less than $100 per person... seems pretty reasonable to me.

Are you working on the assumption that Hampton Downs Ride Days have exclusive rights to motorcycle trackdays there... I've been informed that this is not the case, and if it is, then I'm sure a not-for-profit 'Trackday Club' will do the trick.

Don't forget that Hampton Downs at least looks to be much more interesting and challenging to ride - Taupo has one 'blind corner'... imagine heading into turn one at Hampton downs - a blind, downhill corner, hard on the brakes from 260kmh... that's gonna take some balls. I look forward to seeing how the bikes like the 'crests' in the track, maybe we'll get some wheelie action like at Cadwell Park!

ON THIS SUBJECT--
I just resently started a club aptly named Frosty's kb trackday club.
Kiwibiker the website is the ONLY advertising media I will use for members of the club or to advertise the event.
Kiwibikers ONLY association is that it is kindly allowing me to advertise
This club is a continuation of the stuff Ive been doing in the past at Taupo track.
Your yearly membership fee to this club is one chokky fish.
Once a member you have the right to atend any track days the club organises.
I must say Mr R6 kid has his numbers a bit off given that as in past trackdays we still need flag marshalls ambulance and RT's
I'd suggest a donation of $100 per member would be more accurate.
Of course sahould the club run an event at a slight profit this profit will be used to offset the costs of the next event or will be accumulated so that after 5 events the next will be FREE to club members.
The specifics will be worked out

It is the case, but doesn't stop people like Frosty from organising what he's proposing (on the assumption there are any dates available to book the track).

Have to say I've had the same info from the two owners when I did circuit tour last month, there words " the track is available for hire from anybody wishing to hire it" All the cost per day info is on their web site.
