Just heard the Wind up your Wife Wednesday on Robert and Jono's show on The Rock. Usually hilarious tonights was a little over the top.

They phoned up a women after the husband requested she is 'wound up'. They told her that her baby, now 8months old, had been mixed up with another persons also of the same ethnicity (Tongan). Needless to say the woman was absolutely distraught, and fair enough too.

And this isn't the only controversial thing The Rock have done recently. Jono got in trouble last week for letting a guy explain on air how to make a bomb:shit::Punk:

Anywhoooo to the point. What is your favourite Radio station and why.

They don't work anyway. If you check on the box there are some 'this might not work' disclaimers. I've tried it in numerous vehicles. Including a Bose kitted S600. Hard wire is the only way to go.

My current bus has a DVD player - several hundred mp3s on random.

Hauraki in the KR truck.

Just found out this bird got $500 after being wound up, well worth it then in my opinion

Okay so i dont really care what granny's on the dole think about Bill English or Taeto Phillip Fields nor do i care about what some fat bastards opinion of the All Blacks and how to fix them is so i didn't put them in.

Actually those are the reasons i dont like them. The reason i didnt put them in is because they dont play music

I like The Rock
the wind up your wife 2day went down like a cold cup of sick, it was a bit mean, but i think a better(worse) one was when they rung a woman and said the house she had just finished renovating had been P lab and "The Destroying Team" had to come and bowl it at her expense and no insurence. I was driving when i heard it and had to pull over lol

I think Hauraki has a limited play list.
The morning Pirates keep it alive.

If they say...'coming up we have Led Zepplin/Uriah Heap and Van Halen, you could pretty get ready for 'Whole lotta love'/'Gypsy' and 'Panama'.

MoreFM probably the least amount of song per hour...too much yabba.

Radio NZ is the last bastion of 'proper' radio in this country.

No ads and (relatively well resourced) quality programming as others have said.

That said, community radio, B net (student radio) and low power stations are pretty close to what radio ought to be as well. Though I have a soft spot for George FM which, much to my chagrin, was recently gobbled by one head of the two-headed commercial radio monster

Radio should NOT be about selling things, and that's what all the stations on the list are about - 'tis why it's called commercial radio. Some are OK for short stints, but as soon as the ads or 'hilarious banter' come on I feel my blood pressure rise and I change back to something more sane (if I can - workplaces present difficulty)

Only one country in the OECD spends LESS on public broadcasting than NZ (The US). That's a pretty sad indictment on NZ. This fact is especially obvious when looking at TVNZ...

TVNZ is expected to make money. RNZ provides a national service. Spot the difference in quality.

The tory scoundrels in power now had better leave RNZ alone...I'd be the first to go militant if they fuck with it.

I hate DJ's,and breakfast ones are extra annoying.I prefer stations with as little DJ or add content. If I was given a choice it would be Coast...love the music too.

Over the years I've twiddled the dial looking for something special - there was a classic station called Cool 93 that was canned....then that frequency started to just play music alone, wow, great. Then Blakkie came on it was Solid Gold. There was also Cool Blue - just played jazz and blues with no DJ,and an online playlist....had that as my workshop station until it was stopped. Then came Coast....get some jazz and standards on the play list,so worth a listen to me.

I voted ZM just cos of Polly...and you can all bite me if you don't like it! :bleh:

She's funny as hell and when I had a life and listened to radio in the mornings on the way to work, she was the one thing that made traffic in a cage bearable.

However, Hauraki when I get bored with ZM's rather repetitive playlist.

In Wellington there's a little radio station called KIX FM (http://www.kixfm.co.nz/). No ads, there is a recorded announcer who comes on maybe every 3 or 4 songs to tell you what station you're tuned to then back to the music. It's fantastic!! They play rock mainly so suits me.

Call me an Ignore Amos, a disciple of the Sarge-way.

I enjoy some of the jocks, but the commercials with a 'character' voice spewing forth as many words as possible within the allocated 15 seconds just makes me think 'go and get ferked' and hit the mp3 button.

Used to be a Hauraki fan, but now they play shit like Nickelback, Hinder, Matchbox 20, next it will be Nsync, so fuck em.

We have The Rock going all day at work and I'd rather listen to an angle grinder for 8 hours. They play the same shit over and over again and thrash the (crap ) NZ music.

If I do have to listen to the radio it will be a mix between More FM, Coast, the Breeze and Solid Gold, cos I know I probably wont hear the same song twice.

But I think the ipod is one of the best inventions out there.

I work permanent night shift, and it is interesting to listen to song choice on various stations. Earlier this week the Rock played ACDC, then a Michael Jackson cover song in succession, twice in the night. They have changed to an all-night DJ (starts at 2am) but it hasn't improved it. They play WIYW repeats ad-nauseam all night.

The Raki is losing the plot - anything post-2000 should be banned from 'classic rock that rocks'.

ZM has a cool Ministry of Sounds special on Saturday nights - great open hangar loud work music. Led Before Bed and Think Pink on the Raki redeem them somewhat.

In my car, it's Talk Sport.

95Bfm do their own commercials, and I find i usually actually enjoy listening to them.

Like the cheapskates (khyber pass) advert:

Dad: "I'm taking your mum up the khyber"
Mum: "Kids, do you want your dad to take you up the khyber too?"
Kids: "Euuuuw, gay!":killingme
