Seen this one advertised in Chch. Any one ever ridden one? I like the big motor and I hear they actually handle too. Is this true? This is a 1999 so has carbs. ASking approx $6.5k

Thankee kindly me harty!
Yes well I always thought the R1 was a bit too full on sports, not enough time to smell the roses so to speak. I would like a motard but they are too expensive so am checking the horizon for other options.

I have sat on one - does that count?
Seat is lower than my XJR but otherwise similar position - very comfortable. The Honda motor is smoother than the Yamaha (less vibration) and I think the gearbox is probably a bit better too. I never actually rode one because it was out of my price range. $6.5k for a 99 is pretty good, depending on kms...

Nice bike to ride Torque is great & a fair lick of speed .Handling is good for this type of bike but would not like been push really hard tho . I would think $5k would be a more realistic price . But if low K's & mint Eg Tyre's / chain /paint / brake's look good then $6k tops

Price is prob high as it is a dealer. Probably a trade in. Advertised on bikepoint at the mo, low km's and looks pretty clean.

chchchchchchchchchchch is a hell of a ride back oop north, but it'd definitely be a good experiance.
What happened with the idea of a retard? sorry, motard?
Can these wheelie? now that'd be a pic..

Yep motards are cool but even second hand they are soo pricey. Cb1300 bags of torque so I guess they can wheelie ok, just a bigger mass to haul up. Be fun trying.

There we go :niceone:
Ive heard the CB1300 has huge amounts of torque, and far superior suspension compared to the CB900. Great for touring and mucking around on... But ofcourse no good for highspeed stuff (although will do more than 200kmh) and is quite heavy...

There's always the Kawasaki ZRX (http://www.kawasaki.co.nz/kawasaki_custom.cfm?modelcode=ZR1200-A5&do=list) as well? Good retro style.
Here's one on TradeMe. (http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/Motorbikes/Motorbikes/Sports-tourer/auction-24905853.htm)

And a vastly better handling bike than the CB1300. There is something special about the stonk that comes from a big-block Kawasaki. Put a Neptune on, shave about 60kg from the weight and let the noise out! That, combined with great agility for a 230kg bike, makes this a hard-to-beat package. The seat is good too if you like to spend a long time in the saddle. I did a Grand Challenge on mine. No wucking forries! ANZA Motor Company in Palmerston North has got a great example of a ZRX1200R A2 on the floor...
Also the CB1300 in that red-and-white colour scheme looks totally naff...

I used to have a green GPZ1100. Great bike but been there and done that. Personal preference I know but I like the red/white thing.

Jeez that was a slow one, looks like the balance point is right up there too.
