Bloody hell, some of those are shit....
But come on, how can you class a factory naked bike as a "streetfighter"?
Buell's, monsters etc aren't streetfighters per say.

A streetfighter needs to have started life as a fairing bike and been modified from there..

REAL STREETFIGHTERSWell, only the flamed one comes close to the streetfighter ethos, black one is close but a little too tarted up, and not stripped back enough to really be one. It sure is nice though.

That thing with flames is pretty ugly, but it's the closest out of those four.

- and if you dont have a job you can just hack the factory tail. The steeper its angle and more uncomfortable it looks- the cooler you are.

A streetfighter has and always will be a bike that once had a fairing. Traditionally they're rebuilt crashed bikes, but that's a small point imho.

A 'streetfighter' can not be a stock bike. It's a one off that should bear little resemblance to what it started out it's life as and it cannot have fairings. You could argue about the "used to be faired but now isn't thing", but that's typically the idea.

That's my view anyway. Everyone has their own...

disagree .. They may start out like that .. But look at the bobber / chopper / cafe racers .. They all started out as 'modified' bikes.. Yea .. At the beginning of the art form, they were ugly ass dunger bikes that you didnt mind thrashing.. But now its the 21st century and the bobbers / choppers and etc have evolved into custom painted, hand fabricated works of art..

As i stated .. I really like the streetfighter look.. When its done right .. Anything less and im checking its service history

That would be my stab at it, and as usual the cunning manufacturers jump on the bandwagon to produce factory versions.

Its pretty rich claiming the exact opposite, That being heavily customised super-expensive purpose-built complete re-engineering of a bike is what makes it....well...that makes it a show bike

Anyhow, Its a trend, and all trends get diluted as more and more people try and make money off something was originally a solution to a problem.Only the factory bikes appeal to me, The home made ones look like shit.

Everybody is correct.

Originally it was English sports bike riders pranging their GSXR's (typical) and not replacing the plastic.
Kind of munted looking but with a style of their own.

The style has become cleaned up as it became more popular and radical - billet yokes to hold USD forks etc on early models, factory versions in the show rooms etc.

If you are a super anal purist - sure it must be a munted sports bike, but by sticking to such narrow design parameters you exclude a fine selection of 'naked' bikes.

Does a 'cruiser' have to be a V-Twin? I think not.

Sports bike (typicially a crashed oil cooled GSXR as a doner bike) with renthal type bars replacing the clip ons, no or small nose fairing, lowered gearing. A low budget version using the original frame - a proper one using a harris or hand made frame Built for wheelies and backroad scratching - my 10c.

Every bike gets categorised to some extent:

"sports bike" - high power, light weight, faired motorcyle designed for peformance over comfort.

crusier - low reving engine usually a vtwin, designed for comfort and style over speed.

Motard - Typically off road bike with uprated suspension brakes and road tyres.

Theres a few bikes that don't fit into any category, its all in the eye of the owner anyway.

So streetfighters started out as fixed up binned sports bikes, now people are making that style of bike with loads of cash and starting from an un-binned bike or a box of bits.

Cool.

Man for a bunch of free-spirited bikers :shifty: we are awfully judgmental on the finer details and classification of everyone else's rides...
