Hello everyone,

Just having a couple of issues with my GB's speedo. One day it started flickering +/- 10kmph the speed you were going, however this indicated lower and lower (flickered at a speed less than what I was traveling) until it eventually did nothing at all, and now sits on zero.

I disconnected the cable at the speedometer, and noticed that it wasn't spinning while riding along decided it was a broken cable and replaced it with a spare, when I spin the cable manually from where it connects to the wheel, the dial on the speedo moves slightly. This, however, did not fix the problem and I have since noticed that the part on the front wheel where the cable connects does not spin when the wheel moves (if you get what I mean), this part is the speedo gearbox right?

I have now decided this is the issue... Will I need to replace this part? Any insight on the topic would be great.

Thanks heaps,
Jamie

Your speedo drive might be nackered but wavering needles is normally dry or about to break cables . Which end of the cable broke , is there any left in the speedo drive ? Pull your front axle out and have alook at the drive itself , it is possible that it may have stripped the worm drive but you should be able to tell by turning the inside of the drive with your finger .

This happened on my old GB400. The little drive thingamebob down at the front wheel hub had stripped. Got a replacement from Econohonda, fitted it myself ( easy as - must be if I can do it ) no further problems :wari:
