After seeing SnodPete on his Strom down south I was quite impressed with how they went off road. He easily went everywhere we went, and I thought some of it was quite rough, and it sounded good while doing it.

Thunderbike have 2 bloody nice looking 650 examples on trade me. Black, crashbars, luggage racks. $7k standard or $7.5k with the racks and bars.

Add a bashplate and they would make a nicely set up bike for someone looking for a capable tourer that can also do easy to medium off road work.

And while some people think they're ugly I think there are no worse than most ADV bikes, and better than most.

I think they are a great bike and would suit someone looking for a capable tourer and gravel road explorer.

Probably not as suitable as a KTM, DR650, KLR for really rough stuff but very good within it's design spec and great for getting to out of the way places in comfort.

Ever looked at them on ADV & things? you don't get huge threads of owner problems like a lot of other bikes do and the motor is supposed to be a stonker.

I took my V up to Lake Onslow yesterday. It handled everything fine, but I should really use more suitable tyres for wet mud.

The 650 is a better allround bike than the 1000, and much better off road. the 1000 is better as a tourer or for 2 up riding.

had alook at that strom at tbikes the other day & thought it was really good value for money. There was a KTM450 there as well for $4500 which wasn't regoed but had road going kit. I thought that was pretty cheap.

Bloody hell, I was looking at the Wee @ Thunderbike yesterday too. A well priced bike.
