Hahaha.... good skills from the seller to not say "FFS, just fuck off and don't buy it then!"

Yes, Though I was just wanting to get an estimate to have it fixed in a workshop so I could see how it compared to the other bikes on my short-list.
Their reply wasn't what I was getting at, I wasn't asking them to tidy it up for the the DIY sum he quoted. But if I had money in pocket I'd be talking to them right now.

He should charge him an extra $500 "wanker tax"

",its just we have 4 mechanics,we are full on,we just thought it would be a good DIY bike, but"
And he's right. It's because of dicks like you that my bike has taken so long. :niceone: :Pokey:

If you're paying yourself @ workshop rates to take bits on, off and polish covers, then it might breach that 500... I like their last offer, going to take them up on it? :)

I like their last offer
Yeah, that seemed quite reasonable to me - we'll fix it for $500 even if you won't :)

Ha ha, nice one. Do it man, that's a bloody steal!
In his defense your question was a little ambiguous.

What about twats listing stuff on trademe with hardly any details or photo's that look like they're from a 1995 camera phone?
I mean, if you're listing a damaged bike then at least go into some detail about the damage. Perhaps advise of number of previous owners, condition of tyres, chain sprocket, service history, that sort of thing.

I can't see any damage - Only minor wear and tear.

Few questions on Tardme make me facepalm harder than asking if the bike is "a 2 stroke or 4 stroke".
It's like man.... come on... do your bloody homework...

$500 is way off Headbanger! Sure, thing's can be done on the cheap, but you get cheap. Do you really want that?
Oh one other thing that may be important. Those sub-frames can bend like cheese when the pillion footpeg mount hits the deck. Cosmetically easy to straighten.............but???? There is $1116.90 alone, but that one may be fine.

Squiggles and myself were in there today, dropping off one of my viffers and picking up another one of my viffers - we didn't even realise it had been damaged at first! Looks like a real steal in the condition it's in.

Yeah but a weakened alloy frame or subframe is not something I'd wanna pour into a corner on at speed even if it appears straight.

I think you need a faster bike if thats the biggest of your worries...

So you keep your bikes in their original bubblewrap then?
It's up to him. Hell, at that price I'd be interested if I had the money. Well, that and also if I had any interest in bikes over 500cc (besides the RC30, mmm).

Wouldn't buy a bike thats been down without knowing it's history or having a frame test done.
Be interested to know (if it was just a low speed drop) how the instrument cluster got cracked also.
And ah - where did I say it wasn't up to him?

You were a parts fitter on chinese bikes at one stage weren't you? Mainly plastic/tin I suppose?
Well just so you know - alloy once weakened ain't fixable and damage (to welds etc) may not be visually detectable.

....a frame test done.
What is this test you speak of????
You could well go for a Non Destructive Test, as used in the Aviation Industry....
This can be anything from a look with the naked eye, to Dye Penatrant/ Black Light, to Eddy Current for ferrous materials.....
However I bet they will be able to find stuff on the frame that will make you cringe.... and it could be perfectly fit for use. Depends who determines what is acceptable really.

Yeah, either guess work or massive expense - which is why I wouldn't take any chances if (not commenting on any specific case here) I saw evidence of impact to an alloy frame.

Don't be a twat.
FWIW, Kerry is a genuine good bloke. KTL bikes sponsors two riders from this forum to race in the BEARS class, and I have had the pleasure of getting on the piss with him after a round of racing at Manfield. To my knowledge he will only sell bikes on the shop floor which are of the highest standard - if they arrive with a scratch or any other superficial damage that wasn't there when he spec'd the bike in Japan then he will knock off a decent amount and give someone a deal.
Of course I don't know the story behind this particular bike, but he's an honest kiwi business man who runs a good business. If you want someone to independently check out the bike then ask.
Ask yourself, would you got to the effort of finding the prices to repair all those parts on the idea that ONE person MIGHT buy the bike if that repair bill is good for them? He did a good job of describing the damage and gave a pretty good estimate... is that not what you asked for?

This is a great thread but had me confused for a while. It is titled Twats asking ?'s on TM. But the guy asking the questions is the guy who started the thread? Awesome! Twat is as twat does!
Whatever that means!
