Being that the rear guard thingy was a bit off looking I'm made some alterations...

Foolishly don't have any 'before' shots, but it did look quite big, (see avatar profile), and hung down more than twice the distance it does now.

Pinched this pic off the net for a rough before image...

Anyway, looks a lot better IMO.

(Should encourage a larger following distance too :D )

Yeah they're good eh, but attract police attention fairly quickly ;)

I don't ride with other bikers, and don't mind if cagers wear a bit of shit. With the little tyres on this thing it's not gonna be throwing up much anyways :disapint:

Actually as an aside, found another bloke riding exactly the same bike down whatever that road is that connects to chuch cnr/riccarton rd today. I pulled up beside him but he seemed so intent on not slow riding into the car in front he never saw me. Only other blue one I've seen in chch.

except when he can't see out of his visor and rear ends u :msn-wink: j/k

just that I hate following bikes with really sticky sports tires and have short fenders... cause they flick stones at you like nothing..... one on visor, one on chest, one on headlights, one on screen..... like its never going to end

No sir, I dont like it.................. sorry mate but that looks like bloody shit, I just cant work out why the hell people butcher there bikes like that.
Is it that old small peinis syndrome thing again 'hey look at my fat fuk tyre'..... so what. Large sports bikes do this alot....... IMO looks crap.

ps: dont have big crome nobby things attached to ya lid do ya (like a mohawk)

I don't think this is the case, and a fat tyre it is not, being that I can put my hand around the whole thing.

Honestly I don't see how the rear guard is going to stop crap being flung out the back. Take the attached diagram for example, on Suzukis with the general position of the guard you'll only be trapping those bits of rubbish that are flung almost straight up.

The composition of the tyre will be what dictates what and how much of it is thrown back at those beind you.

1) Mate..... I know its not a tyre size thing for you, wasent aimed at you with that comment.

2) I never mentioned anyting about crap being flicked of the tyre, however I dont think that your example is a very good one, guards are there for a reason.

And it is IMHO that, butchering the rear guard like that looks shiter than shit....... sorry man, dont mean to shoot ya down on this just my thoughts..

Sorry Dangerous, didn't mean to come across like I was having a dig, I wasn't :) I appreciate your honesty and candor. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and I'm happy with that. If I wasn't open to criticism I'd not have started the thread.

All cool? :2thumbsup

Not a bad look, keep meaning to do it to my own thing, but you know how it is...

Important thing is that the horrid black plastic thingey and the ugly ugly ugly license label is no where to be seen!! Either that or hiding to the side, in which case I think it should hide with mine - in the garage!!

No worries Aaron
I recently saw a SV 1000 at a rally and the guy shortened his up but not so as all you can see is the plate.... he rehanged the plate from the bottom instead of the top (same mout points) tucked the reg around the corner and raised the reflecter...... didnt just hack the remaining guard off but cut it to shape.... he did a bloody good job, just have to think about it before hacking away :ride:
