Hey all, Going to be sitting the 6R this week hopefully if they have a space free. Any tips from anyone who has done theirs in Wellington?
I'm mostly curious if the practical takes place on the motorway at all as there isn't many off-ramps leaving the city!

Thanks

Where are you doing your test?
I did both my restricted and full licence test at Kilbirnie and did not go near the motorway. Went through the airporty and back over the 70kph road by the water back to kilbirnie.
Nothing for you to be concerned about! Good luck :)

I passed my 6R with never being on the road before. I hired a bike and sat the test with nothing but farm riding experience and i put that together with my car licence skills. good luck man, not that you'll need it

I was thinking about going to the AA in Lambton, But I take it there is one in Kilbirnie? That would suit me way better as I work in Miramar and Ride that road you mentioned every day!

Don't sweat it. I had my 6R terminated halfway through with "pfft, you pass."

Just ride around normally and behave.

Really! They can terminate early if you demonstrate really excellent skills??

Not too worried about the test, Just really wondering where the bloody hell in Wellington they do it, its a bit of a maze here.
After clocking up 12,000k's on my ninja I'm hoping to pass 100%

Same thing happened half way through my 6F test.. "stop, whoa, pull up somewhere safe and come back and talk to me."

I was worried, but He was already writing out my temporary license. <_<

Have fun with it.

Same did mine in Kilbernie the route was from the bowling club heading south towards Lyall bay did a few u turns and emergency stops on the way. Then headed down Cobham drive(70kmh zone) back towards the bowling club very easy 20 mins tops.

Had heaps of problems with the ear piece radio I couldn't hear what the instructor was saying so make sure it all good before you start as this was a huge distraction. Just ride as you would normally and you can’t go wrong.

Passed 100%

Didn't even go over 45kph!! as it was 3:00pm and school was finishing.

Thanks for the heads up about the earpiece Nivram!! made sure that thing was rammed on my ear as hard as possible :)

My R was way WAY back when Motrocycle was class M in the black book! (or was it A- I forget)
I did it on Mums 125cc scooter- breeeeeze!

Back then ya went to Trentham MOT base in Upper Hutt, (was part of the Army base)and did a special course (3 Saturdays) and violla- FULL license
I had my full at age 15 + 34 days- madness :eek5::pinch:

Took big brothers XS 650 Special to school to celebrate ;)

Good luck dude you will be fine, just dont run yellow lights (cop expects you to stop for yellows) and stay in the speed limit
