So are they OEM fitment or the retail version? They differ greatly!

I would doubt that, with the expense of building moulds and producing tyres why would they go to the expense of building two different versions of the same tyre

More than two as I understand it, but I'm not familiar with the tyre markings.

OEM BT-016 often have a single compound front and dual compound rear, as opposed to dual front, triple rear for retail version.

He's actually right, kick!
My 750 came with BT 014s on it (when new in 2006). The BT014s on my bike were quite different in shape and tread pattern to the "over the counter" ones

Doesn't make sense from production point of view to do that, I can't find anything on the net except for a few people in different forums saying the same thing but nothing from the manufacturer

Perhaps they make different versions of the same tyres for different Motorcycle companies or for different markets

Bike manufacturers will ask tyre companys for special runs for their flagship sports bikes . There will be a letter after the tyre code i.e Bt016H for HONDA

Owl is quite correct, there is a cheaper OEM and then there is the multi compound charge like a wounded bull aftermarket version.
