Have a ring around any Flooring Xtra stores in your area, they have a policy of recycling carpet. You may be pushing it up hill with a pointy stick to get decent stuff, most people replace their carpet only when it is delaminating and utterly revolting, but you might get lucky. Roll stock carpet comes fairly cheap these days too btw. Failing that try trade me too, some people also recarpet because the carpet did not match their dog

I have a couple of carpet sections that I was going to chuck out.
They were hallways rugs - nothing wrong with them 'cept a paint drip or two
They are roughly 1M x 3M and 1M x 5M
PM me if you want them - otherwise they'll go in a load to the tip in a few weeks.

Any carpet store usually have bins for rubbish and don't mind if you ask if you can help yourself lol, leaves more room in the bin.Ring around and find out the collection day,go day before they pick up,or ask if they think they'll have a reasonable amount turning up,they should know what the layers are doing, and the size of job, whether they have to remove from the site for trashing, the cost of customer dumping crap carpet means most let it be removed from the property.

Beware of flea/egg infested second hand carpets too. Not a problem if you have pets yourself but.

i'd imagine it'd be more of a problem if you had pets..... dont want to give them fleas!
