geez it was weird riding a 250cc with narrow bars and the good ol feet tucked up and back..The whole process was sweet as and I'm looking forward to my full asap. I hired the 2fiddy from Trevor Pierce MC with the L plate lol if anyone else is going through the licencing stages. Hopping back on the Harley felt like I'd never sat on it before! The bars felt sooooooo wide and the bike so low, and to be fair, the 2fiddy didn't gain much momentum through the gears lol.:niceone:

Good onya!! :niceone:

Funny...I had a wee ride on a 883 sporty today and my feet were flailing about looking for the foward pegs. My friend went to go for her restricted at 2pm on her wee GN2fiddy so she can ride her new harley legally...when she gets her full. :innocent:

Reminds me when I sat my restricted on my 650 (I had an exemption), the clock on the bike was about 20min fast so I "discovered" on the way there I was about 15 minutes "late". So here I am lane-splitting the fuck out of the open road at about 130k on a fooken noisy vtwin with an L plate on. How the hell I wasn't *555'ed I'll never know.

Gotta go for my restricted. Been riding on my learners for far too long. Just new to Ashburton and was wondering if anyone knows where I can get hold of a 250 with "L" plate to do the test. Tester might take exception to me turning up on the Guzzi!!

I was in the same boat..got my provisional licence when I was 15 but when my xr250 got stolen I had a break from road riding...then I had a Triumph chop that was so not going to get a wof any time soon and the penalty for 'wrong class of licence' wasn't so bad then. After getting side swiped by a car on my xr500 and not getting insurance due to no licence I flagged it for awhile. Buying my current bike has made me go legal which is all good. 6 months on a learners..passed the restricted road test....now its defensive driving course which will allow me to sit my full in 12 weeks! It really isn't such a mountain once you get started. Its only taken me 25 years to get my full licence lol and getting the Harley made it all happen! Hope you manage to score a 2fiddy to get the ball rolling.

Good onya, I went through the same thing: HD in the garage and a GN-250 for the 'learner' bike. You'll pass though to the final stage fine....the final test is pretty much the same as the restricted test. Just keep in mind that things require a slower input on the Harley. Did you notice how much easier the Harley is to ride compared to the 250 once you get the hang of it?

Very much so...and to be fair, the 250 was so uninspiring that I doubt I'd get any pleasure from riding and would give it all away before getting my full.

Many new riders are scared of larger engined bikes and don't realise how much easier it is to control, particularly at low speeds and up steep inclines.

Well done and good luck.
