Yep, 80 km on Great North road.... $230 later.
We live and learn chaps.
Had a bit of a chat to the copper though, he seemed like a nice enough dude.

Lol good effort... I'm guessing this happened approximately 10 minutes after I saw you haha! Nice!
Over the past few days I've been seeing around 6 cops on my commute each way, they seem to be patrolling pretty intensely.
$230 though, ouch :(

Yea, instead of getting straight on the motorway from uni I decided to get on at great north road. Came round the bend going down hill after the grey lynn shops and he puts his lights on.
Sorry officer!
Ah well, my fault, shoulda been watching my speed.

While I have no doubt that only a fool exceeds the open road speed limit of 100 kph for fear of dying, only a complete loser travels faster than 50 in a 50kph area. Frankly I think the fines and points should be doubled for it
Do as you will on the open road, but dont speed in the 50 zones.

And I just got an e-mail from my Cousin....He just recieved 6 speeding notices....4 for him and his family and 2 for me when I was riding his bike...buggar.
59 and 64 km in a 50 km zone total 130 Euro please.....
And to think you can ride all day on the Dutch Motorways at 140 km with a 110 limit and no one cares?

Well not according to KB anyway.

Only if he was snapped on a radar.... its more than likely the cop would have been chasing after him for a while and "pacing" his bike. Too many bends and turns in the city to get a radar lock. Normally has to be a straight stretch for that.

Norway is the worst...
86km in a 60 km = 6 months loss of license and 121 in a 70 km zone manditory jail.
The important numbers :
Speed-limit 30 50 60 70 80 90 100
License withdrawn, min. 6 months 56 76 86 106 116 126 141
JAIL - UNCONDITIONAL** 60* 92 110* 121* 130 142* 155*
Even NZ is not THAT bad

Nah, i came round the bend going downhill, so that helped my speed go up (plus I'm waiting for me new speedo cable to arrive, haha) and he was about 60m down the road in the oncoming lane and on come his lights and he does a u-turn.
Knew I was nabbed and no way out of it.
Do the crime, pay the fine! (if you get caught!)

did he have a radar reading of your speed? did he show it to you? I had a similar thing once..... granted, I wasnt going quite that fast !

Well, I probably could have lost him as it was 4:30 and I was in the CBD... cop car can't lane split as well as a bike :P
BUT, I'm a relatively good boy so I pulled over and took it on the chin.

Too true.....but you will never go as fast as the coppas radio anyway, and if he has your plate, you're royally fucked.

80 in a 50 zone does seem a teensy bit high.
The most I ever did in a 50 zone was 130. (But there was no traffic and it was a fine day and I was real careful and ... )

Correct! You must be well versed on the Theory of Relativity. Radio is electromagnetic waves and therefore travels at the speed of light. According to Einstein, no object with mass can reach the speed of light and light will always travel at the speed of light in ALL frames of reference.

And with all the autobahn roads we have the speed limit SHOULD be 220kph...

Everyone goes on about the Speed of Light as if it's some holy grail....pffft. It's no faster than the Speed of Dark.

Well, light has an EFFECTIVE mass, derived from Einstein's E=mC^2, and from the momentum of the photon. But it does not have a rest mass as your normal every day matter does ie apples or neutrons where when can measure it's mass when it is stationary to our frame of reference. Light is never stationary to our frame of reference and therefore does not have a rest mass..
More bullshit (i'm studying quantum mechanics at auckland uni... incredibly interesting stuff!)
