Well the time is here again for me to go new bike shopping...

I have put my prized show spec mini up for sale and once sold plan to buy another motorbike. I have spent thousands of hours and dollars on it and I expect it to sell quickly and for a high price.

Anyway...

I will be on the hunt for a decent bike. I have owned two ZX11 bikes and ridden a blackbird (lol) which I all enjoyed. As well as a few little 600 suzi's and kwakas.

Another sports/tourer looks to be on the cards again, something in the 1000cc or above range.

So what are my options?

ZX11 D-model (again) is high on my list as is the CBR Blackbird and also a ZX10 for a slight change is on my list.

Good tip... I did enjoy that trip though ;)

This time I'll be simply making sure I get the correct country.

Put a Busa on your list of possibilities as well.

And my superbly set up example will be on the market in the coming months

Give the Busa, and perhaps a later GSXR1000 a go. Might be a bit easier on the road than the ZX10.

FZ1 bro. at least go test ride one. PM Noel for his thoughts on his one.

Better than the whales that are busa's, blackbirds etc..

Its got power. Comfort, and it handles reaaaal good.

+1... remember that Noel has owned both the Busa, Blackbird and an X11.

OKay folks bit of an update:

Been on a few test rides now....

Trying to decided between Kawasaki ZX14 and Honda Blackbird

My requirements are simple - going to be daily use bike for work as well as play. Comfortable on long trips - plan to travel all over NZ on it.

I love them both - handling, feel and capabilities.... but hard to judge long term ownership... running costs, parts, long distance touring comfort etc etc

Did you try a setup late model Fazer yet?

No, not to my taste. They look like they have been crashed and then repaired by bob the builder!

Petrol wise I'm better off with the blackbird and plus I can say things like "I just rode a black bird" :spanking:

But the ZX14 - my gosh... that is just sexy. Those lights and the side grill bits just turn me on.

The 14 looks like it's been beaten with the ugly stick!
6 and 10 are nice though. :D

Once you've had Branston Pickle you never want Marmite again.

You don't have to be gay to own a Honda (being bi-curious is also acceptable.)

I agree with what you are saying about the meaty looks of the ZX14.

Have you looked at the luggage options for both?

The whole "honda=gay" is very much below me :zzzz:

Both can be fitted with pack racks and suitable tank bags - which is enough for me. I'm not into hard luggage.

Me neither.

I think the magnetic tank bags are great and if you don't need to take a pillion (which I don't) there is no need to spoil the great lines with bulky bags (just that you mentioned touring NZ). I got one of those Tank Slapper kits the other day to save the paintwork. Great idea.

Good luck with the big decision. Either choice will be for a fantasic bike.
