Hey guys,

Just thought I would register here and say hello. I have been lurking around the forums for a while lately and I thought it was about time I registered and said hello.

I am currently living in Dublin, Ireland (where I was born and raised) but me and the other half are emmigrating to Auckland in November. Im a big bike fan and currently have an SV650 Sport (ill stick up some pics this afternoon). I want to make sure when I get to Auckland I can keep up the biking so I needed a new forum!!;)

Anyway, any tips or advice for an immigrant let me know!

Talk to you all soon!

hey! Thanks!

No honestly I am a big Buell fan, great bikes.... the XR12. They are pretty expensive and hard to come by over here so when you do see one it makes it better! ;)

Tbh, when we arrive in auckland we are going to have to stay in a hostel or someting or a hotel for a week or so until we find somewhere to rent. I am going to be working right in the CBD so preferably for a few months anyway, until I get to know the area I will be looking for an apartment around there. Any tips? This is where we are struggling the most.

Also in terms of looking for bikes, is there any good value bike rental available over there for the weekends until I get something?:scooter:

hey mate welcome to the forums, im a pom and got out here just before xmas 2008 so only a few months in, as far as renting goes i have a friend called liz who works for harcourts estate agents and she will sort you the best deals on the northshore she works out of the milford office, the commute to the city from the shore is dead easy but watch out for some funky drivers out here mate! ( i take it you have been here before ) oh and watch out for the rozzers they are shit hot at catching speeders...
when you get here drop me a line or hell if you want anyone local to check things out before you get here then i will do that too, any questions mate just ask...it was tough for me at first but i wouldnt think of going home now!!!

dont tell them this but KIWI'S ROCK !!! real chilled out people with a stunning country and as much number 8 wire as you could ever need...

the local brewed guiness is like piss water but a few places import the good stuff

Um, an SV650 isn't a big bike? (said on a rising note, that turns a statement into a question, in the time-honoured Kiwi tradition?)

northshore

Welcome Cooper Man.
Wish you all the best in your move to Auckland.
Take advice with a pinch of salt, the northshore may be slightly expensive and poofy for you.

Thanks for the responses guys!

Mom, thanks for the PM of advice, ill def get back to you when I have enough posts to PM.

Jubilant, yeah would love to get in touch. Hoping to stay close enough to Auckland CBD until I get transport sorted and get to know the place a little better, mabe she can help me out with a short term (3 month say) lease?

Everybody else, thanks for the welcomes! Maybe my phrase 'im a big bike fan' should have been 'i am a big fan of bikes' i wasnt saying my little SV was a big bike! :D lol

Anyway, ill be here now to give my critical opinion and my Irish 'wit' (interfering sarcasm perhaps).

Cheers lads!
