A friend and I are in business (small time cash jobs) feeding cats and walking dogs, looking after your property etc

Got any ideas to improve my business/attract more customers etc? At the moment i am just going on old client list but thats only 2 a week at the moment...

Or anyone going away soon and need this service? It is cheaper than cattery or Dog kennel.

Let me know

Can't have pets when you wanna just jump on the bike and disappear when you get the urge, but all the best with the business .....

This is true so maybe not the best place to look for business, and not too many people going on holiday this time of year either,

Drop flyers in letterboxes, put notices up in Supermarkets, Vets, Petshops and your local Dairy. It sounds like a good business to be in so Goodluck with it and here's hoping that your clientel starts booming for you.

do a letter box drop

I did this two weeks ago, it took hours even on my pushie.

It was worth it because i got 4 jobs out of it, plus a little much needed fitness.

Still i might do it again or bribe the little primary school kids who do the north shore times or what ever.

Vets is a good idea i hadnt thought of.

The last time I did use such a service, I got onto it through my vet - so yes, vets is a good idea...

Offering services that others don't offer is always a good idea..

Instead of just house sitting you can offer to clean the entire house while they're away using their cleaning products. Vacuum the house, clean the windows, get rid of all the cob-webs (I live in the bush, and have heaps of them), clean the bath room etc. Only offer this if you're actually good at cleaning though. This could also be offered as a regular service.

And as others have said, an effective advertising scheme is always effective. Put a flyer in your local bulletin board, letter bombing, etc.

One service I wish I could have had was the water the garden for me service.

All the effort to grow a garden and you go away for a few weeks in the heat of summer and the thing up and dies on you.

Add, I will water your garden for you, bonus here you probably will get to eat the veges while the owner is away.

If it's a new client for dog walking, smell of meat.
"See, he likes me already"

Offer to clean up and remove droppings from their lawn as well. Take them away and put them in a dog specific worm farm and sell back the castings to them for fertliser.

Then you have an environmental full circle service:msn-wink:

Expand your business into crack cocaine importation.

Wouldn't recommend that.. pets aren't too god on vet trips at the best of times. Put them with a stranger.. it's not pretty.

a cage sorts all that mate, and they sorta are a pet company so one would hope they can deal with pets...

Become and agency for people to look after each others pets. I'm sure people would much rather their dog goes to someone who is like minded about animals than to a stranger.. and a lot are reluctant to have a stranger house sit for them.

Some pets are a bit old to be put into kennels safely.
