its only a 250 and i dont want to rip up tarmac just have a better chance of passing stuff on the open road than i do right now !

You will be lucky to get an extra 10% power. That is going to be less than 3hp! Save ya money for the upgrade. Shouldn't be too hard to pass cars i would have thought!

Exhaust can, carb jets and a dyno tune. You won't get much more power from a hyo 250 sorry but it would sound neat.

If you mess about with it, it may be harder to sell when you want to upgrade.
Work on your cornering technique and you'll find you will enjoy the low speeds more (like that nutter around Glenfield).

They are not designed to cane hell out of them. You will fuck the gearbox and score its cylinders.
The best thing to do, is stick a really noisy exhaust on it, and then at least it will have some grin factor - The hyos have an awesome vtwin crackle to them with a straight through pipe.
But forget going fast on them - you will just destroy it and lose your resale value.

no seriously... you will never make a 250 go faster then a 400 (not counting rider skill)

What you CAN do, is upgrade the front and rear suspension, and put some sticky tyres on it, and learn to corner the fucker harrrrrrrd. LOTS can be done with that. Comets are superb fun to corner.

I'd suggest visiting www.alternativecruisers.com
They have some info on upgrades for the Hyosung GV250, which has the same engine (different gearbox tho) as your comet.
They have links and info on an upgrade kit which increases power from 27bhp (standard) to 35-36hp (from memory).
Ok, not a lot, but as everyone has pointed out already, it is only a 250.
Get to your full license and a larger bike - thats the best bang for your buck :)

Have you unplugged your emissions control wire it was put in so it could be sold in europe.
Did it to mine and it made for a much sweeter ride.
power was noticed more at the lower range.

z1000 it is then !!! honestly now guys the hyo isnt a bad little run around and is great for the work commute, its no real trouble and is fun to ride but i cant believe how much of a difference a few holes in yer pipes can make to the bike...this new pipe ive fitted just seems to have slowed my top end speed and im going to have to get used to it...

agreed. I don't really understand the point of trying to increase the power output of a small (250 cc) displacement bike. You're only going to make minimal gains if any. Unless you plan on riding the 250 for the rest of your life which, I doubt, then its not worth it.
Just wait until you get a bigger bike.

I can get better speeds out of my bike than that! Are you sure the motor isn't on it's way out? I'd be very careful how I rode it if I was you, in case it seized and sent you for a sixxer...
Step-up bike for me will probably be a 400. There's some good options available for not a lot of money. Maybe an FZR400RR or if you like the more upright bike, a Bandit 400.

what about a 2 stroke 250 :Oi:
a 2 stroke 250 would have good acceleration and are quick in the lower gears but, I wouldnt want to ride one on the motorway, they're hopeless

Nurse the poor wee thing for 6 months. Save your dough and buy something bigger. Iv had a 250 2T(and 4T) and now a 400 4T, and although the 2T was heaps of fun you had to cane the sh*t outta it. With the 400 4T its much better for regular riding, not the best for commuting but heaps better than the 2T. You cant ride 10/10ths all the time.
My experience anyway.

Get a Busa.
But seriously, there is no set bike that you should step up to, get a thou if you want, just make sure you dont go round snapping the throttle at every straight or out of corners, or anywhere for that matter :P

89 vfr vs 91 NSR.
no show,
NSR got the jump up to about 60km/h then was even by 80 and gone by 100.

even if it was a 250 gp bike vs a 400gp bike cc would always win!
Any 400 will beat a hyo250 even a gn 400
